Suggestions For A Large Spring Assist Folder??

Hi All,
New here. Stopped by a local knife store today looking for a large spring-assisted folder (it will be my first).
The one that jumped out at me was a Kershaw Tyrade G-10. The salesman told me it was a special knife at $179.00. Didn't think much of it until I tried looking for one on-line. Wow, not easy to find.
Question is: I plan on carrying and using the knife. I realize it's big ("is that a large Kershaw in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?"). Is it a practical every-day carry knife? Or is there something as strong as an alternative?
The other knife I liked was the Kershaw ZT 0350.
Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated by this newbee.
Thanks much.

I've got a Tyrade and Really like it. I have a couple in fact. I've bought them in the last few weeks. I can't seem to get the Tyrade out of my pocket.
I came to the Kershaw party late too. The Tyrade came out in 07-09. The street price on the g 10 model is/was $90. They rarely come up fs on the forums.
I can tell you where to get a nib ti tyrade for about the same price as the g 10 Tyrade you saw. Send me an email or pm.

You can get a ZT 0200 which is more HD than the tyrade. 154cm for the ZT vs. cpm d2 for the tyrade. CPm d2 is a much better steel IMO than 154cm. You can get a 0200 for just over $100 if you
know where to look and they'e in stock. O200s are hard to find now. The Tyrade weighs 6.7 and the 0200 weighs 7.7 0z. The 0200 has a little more hand filling grip than the Tyrade. The blade is
about 1/4" longer on the 0200. PM/email for me for the most reasonable place to by ZTs.

I have two of the G10 Tyrades. One orange and one tan. I carry one at work (ORANGE) and the other (TAN) when I am off. They are big knives but I carry them every day. I also like the ZTs. I have a ZT0350CB that I also carry at work (in a different pocket.) ;) Either of those and I think you will be happy with the quality. You might have to get used to the size. They are a little big.

I know its a bit more expensive, but also stronger:) my personal favorite is the ZT 30x series. If its weight dont bother you, its a great solution.

The only spring assist knife I have is a Benchmade Barrage 581. This was a limited production of 1000 pieces but I dont think they are too hard to find. It is a very nice looking knife (to my eyes) featuring a blade length of around 3,5 inches and a OAL of around 8,5 inches. The scales are G-10 (sculpted) with matte aluminium bolsters. The fat scales really fill the hand and the blade shape is very practical. The real clincher though is the steel - M390. Oh yeah, it fires as fast (if not faster) as my autos. A heck of a good deal for around $150 IMO! I would post pics but it would seem as a mere registered user you cant post pics... so you'll have to google it.

I've owned both the titanium and G10 versions. Both are great. The titanium is a little over the top in its styling, but other than that I can't cite a fault in either version. I sold mine 'cause they were a little too big for me to carry regularly. I've never handled the ZT 350, but it seems very similar in a slightly smaller package.

Benchmade Subrosa - terrific titanium frame lock, great steel (s30v) good price, powerful and impressive opening, great looks, and about a 4" blade. Super light and nimble also. I just got one for around $150 and gave it the scotch brite treatment and she sure is a beauty. Some consider it a poor man's sebenza. The ZT's are great, but heavy beasts.

Here are the specs.

How about the Kershaw Tremor? Its a larger knife and cheaper if the wallet is a issue. Fits well in the pocket and the handle is comfortable.

I second the ZT 30x vote. Too heavy for me for EDC, but a fun knife, well balanced, solid worker. The opening is fast and solid.
