Suggestions for a new EDC?

So... I haven't really been active on the knife front in a while. Most of the knives I really liked are discontinued now. I was wondering if anyone could offer some suggestions? Unfortunately, I'm kinda picky...

I'm looking for something with a 3.5" to 4" blade with a pocket clip. I'd prefer a lock that can be operated with one hand ( not compression or lockback ). I prefer tip down carry. I prefer a hole in the blade rather than a thumb stud. I would like a pretty decent steel... at least ats-34 or 154cm. I dislike tanto blades and recurve blades. I also prefer a modest or minimal belly on the blade. There... am I picky enough? G10 or Micarta scales are a definite plus.

Some of my favorite designs are the Benchmade AFCK, the Buck Odyssey, Spyderco Viele, Spyderco Military... So what's out there? Any recommendations?
I see that the Buck Odyssey is back, but only the 420HC version?

Thanks!

Sam

Spyderco Paramilitary II?

EDIT:

Opps, compression lock.

How about a Benchmade Griptilian with a thumb hole?

Have you checked out the Al Mar SERE 2000? Thumbstud, I know, but it fits your other specs pretty nicely (minimal belly especially).

I really like the Military. I don't so much care for the Paramilitary.. I really like the Griptillian and have been thinking about one for a while. My only issue with the Griptillian is that it's tip down carry. Thank you!

I own a SERE 2000, but I never really carry it. It's got a lot going for it. I love the blade shape, I love how solid it feels, I love how slick and smooth it is. I have two issues with it as far as carry is concerned. It's *HEAVY* and it's tip up carry. In the case of the SERE 2000, I actually don't mind the thumbstuds because the knife is so smooth and so slick. I just wish it could be converted to tip down carry. I *HAVE* carried my Al Mar Shrike a few times. I just wish it had a blade hole instead of thumb studs... See? I told you I was picky. THANK YOU.

I know you said no comp locks, but closing the Para 2 one handed is actually pretty easy. G10, a variety of steels... re-think it!

How about a Kershaw Speedform 2?

Excellent steel, pretty inexpensive and nice 3D machined G10 handles.

-orangish ducktape

That looks VERY interesting. This is the first I've heard of this knife. I've also never heard of ELMAX steel.... I'm intrigued. I wish it had a thumbhole, but I'm definitely going to do more research on this one. THANKS!!

I'll have to see if I can put my hands on one and see what I think. I did some research on the compression lock, and it's not quite what I thought. I'm still not so sure, but I will try to find one to try out. Thanks!

Emerson CQC 10. Expensive and tip up, but you get the hole opener with a wave.

If you want a tip down I would also suggest ZT. Maybe a 0350 or which ever you can afford.
If you decide on that rought check with Kerhaw Guy in these forums. He often has good deals
