Suggestions for clip paint?

Just bought a BM Osborne 942 - very nice. But, it's clip suffers from the same weak paint job as my Ascent. The black color is quickly fading from the edges of the clip.

Any suggestions about what to use for paint (or other compound) that might be more durable than the factory finish?

Thank you!

Brownell's baking laquer. www.brownells.com I've done quite a few guns, clips, and other parts and I am very pleased with it. Good stuff. If you only have one or two clips to do and don't want to buy a whole can, E-mail me. I've done a few for people here.

I haven't tried this, but you might consider trying ordinary shrink-tube material, available at Radio Shack.

If it doesn't work, just cut it off.

One possibility is to strip and polish it. Nothing like clean steel..

I have to second Brownells baking laquer. I have used it on many gun and knife parts and it does wonders.

Basically you spray paint it like anything, then bake it in an over for a few minutes to let it cure. Don't go too thick or it chips faster.

I think it's about $10 a can from them and it'll last a long time.

I also like the aforementioned shrink tubing. I use this stuff for almost anything and keep a full supply on hand!

I too have tried Brownell's Baking Lacquer on the clip of my Spyderco Native. It looks teriffic. It will eventually chip along the edges. I plan to strip it again and try a thinner coat next time as has been suggested.
