Suggestions for "lumberjack challenge"

Hey axefans,

We are camping out this weekend for my little brother's bachelor party. We will be paintballing, maybe fishing, and what not. I am also setting up a "lumberjack challenge." I'm borrowing a two-man cross cut saw, and there will be axes of course. I was thinking that we would have a timed chopping contest, and a timed cross cut contest. Do you all have any suggestions for other "events?" Keep in mind that while all of these guys have probably used axes and saws at least once, some of them may have only used them...well...once. No chainsaw events!

Thanks for any ideas!

Matt.

Add: We will also have a throwing contest. The only tool that we have that we are willing to let people throw is an old all steel hatchet, like an Estwing. We'll see how that works out.

Just be careful with any "timed" chopping with an axe. Lots of room for a new nickname from that one "stumpy" or "nubs" comes to mind.

Hawk throw! Easy, throwing hawks are cheap from cold steel. Just tip a round up and throw away!

Rotation wise you are looking at about 10-12 feet for a full spin, edge toward the target.

I can stick my hawks out to 50+ feet.

The only things that come to mind are log rolling and throwing. I don't think I'd give an axe to a guy who never used one before and tell him to try and chop faster than his buddy.
Two man saw might be cool though.

Will there be drinking involved?

lumber jack beer game, sit on the log, drink beer, B S a little, drink more beer. have funniest joke contest. time for more beer. last one to fall off log drunk off his ass wins.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

maybe a precision event instead of time? who can split a round closest to center? maybe a "king of the hill" log roll? timed crosscut team events are fun and fairly safe though, well, the saw might get hurt if they get the rhythm too far off.
