Hi Everyone,

Long time reader of the forum.

I have wanted to muck around with a woodlore type of knife for some time now and decided to pick up a Condor Bushlore to start inexpensively.

I know that it doesn't have a true scandi grind and was just wondering if any of you good folks could recommend a reputable knife worker in the states that could reprofile the blade for me so that it is? Also, how much does something like that normally cost? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Welcome to the interactive side :)

Sharpening a scandi ground blade is actually a great way to learn how to sharpen, the shear size of the bevel forces you to follow its contour as you move along the stone. The movement needed and felt as the edge is ground is the basic motion you will use to sharpen all knives.

I like to use waterstones for large beveled knives because they tend to work quicker and produce a keener edge which usually works best on that blade grind style.

If you would like your knife re-ground and sharpened feel free to send me a email. I specialize in large/single bevel sharpening.

I highly recommend that you contact RichardJ. He's a great guy that will do your edge right. I trust him to sharpen any blade I have and he's a great teacher as well.
Look around here, do some research and you'll find that Richard is the way to go.

I'm afraid there are a few things paper wheels can't do. Putting a zero bevel on a scandi is one of them...
