Suggestions for SOG Replacement Handle

I recently bought a SOG tactical tomahawk, and broke it within a couple of days. Handle broke underneath the ferrule. I'm thinking about making a replacement handle, but am unsure of material to use. I'm thinking either micarta or dymandwood. Any suggestions?
