Suggestions for somewhat light fixed blade

I'm putting together a very lightweight pack to take on long hikes in the Rockies. It's mostly near-emergency or survival stuff. For instance, a bivy instead of a tent, no sleeping bag or pad, a water filter, and so on.

I want a fixed blade that'll usually be strapped to my pack, but sometimes to my belt. I really like the Fallkniven A1 but it's rather hefty (by design, of course). I think what I'm looking for is the Endura of fixed blades, rather than the Sebenza: should be light, durable, and reasonably inexpensive ($100?). Should be in the 5.5 - 7.5" range. Between grippy handles (like Kraton) or "long-use" handles (like those on Beckers), I'd prefer grippy. Then again, if the Becker Magnum Camp, which I've owned, was a little shorter and lighter, I'd probably be OK with that.

What am I looking for? Weight is at a premium. If nothing trumps the Fallkniven, I'll get that.

CS Bush Ranger. Carbon V is $50.00 on ebay. Stainless models are increasingly difficult to find.

Whoops. My bad, as the kids say today. I hate leather sheaths; kydex or cordura is a must.

Camillus Close Quarter Battle Junior Fixed Blade Designed By Terzuola.
This is what I was going to get for last summers camping / hiking. Wound up using my trusty Cold Steel Master Hunter. It was a bit heavy but a total workhorse. These come with pretty nice kydex sheaths too.

Shmackey,
I'm surprised you are not interested in the Spydie Moran Featherweights. Surely its 8" length doesn't disqualify it, and with a concealex tek-lok system and VG 10 steel it fits the bill in other areas, plus it weighs just 3 ounces. I have the drop point and recommend it highly.
Did I mention it weighs 3 ounces?
G.

Aha. My bad, once again. 5.5 to 7.5" *blade* length. Hence the Fallkniven A1. I like the Moran for what it is, but it's not really a viable option if you're going to have one fixed blade, a Wave, and maybe a Delica.

I'll have to check out this Camillus thing. Keep 'em coming!

The Nimravus is a bit short for a solo fixed blade; I think it comes in well under 5 inches. I'm beginning to think that the Fallkniven is winning. I haven't checked that Buck out, though.

You might want to look at a CRKT SEAL-TAC. There is a version that meets your size requirements... and it's one of the lightest fixed blades I think I have ever held. Might cord wrap the handle(I think it's thin plastic) to make it a bit thicker. There is also the Komodo, which is the bastard, chisel-ground tanto brother of the SEAL-TAC. Same weight, but not as useful IMHO. They are both AUS-6, again nothing great, but not as bad as some.

These went out of production a good while back, but some came with kydex sheaths, and the larger SEAL-TAC was fairly decent if I remember right. The big advantage these would probably give you is the weight.

check out either the SOG Seal Pup, or the SOG Seal 2000.

Both of those knives seem like they would be very good for the job:)

For light I would have to echo the Bush Ranger and have Normark make a kydex sheath. It is the lightest fixed blade of that size that I have owned!!

I like the suggestion for the Seal Pup, and I would also seriously consider "going for it" with a Bob Dozier.

You've got a lot of choices.
Just don't forget about KABARs.
the newer one feature D2 and may be just what you're looking for.
