Suggestions for this kind of knife?

Ok... My small knife collection has slowly let me learn what type of pocket knives I usually grab when I walk out the door. However, I don't think my tastes are popular, and I am looking for suggestions.

I'm looking for a knife with all of these characteristics:
1. 3"- 3.5" blade
2. Thick handle 0.6" - 0.9" thickness
3. Not too tall, e.g. Buck 110 handle is just a little taller than it is wide
3.5 Very important - thick, rounded handle near web of hand for strong hammer grip push cut comfort
4. Neutral handle, e.g. Opinel or Buck 110/112 style with no finger grooves anywhere
5. More traction on handle than a Buck
6. FG or SG blade with DP and no swedge
7. Not too thick blade stock 0.09" - 0.12"
8. Good stainless steel (I'm flexible here)
9. 3-4.5 oz preferred
10. Easy one hand opening (I consider the Buck 110/112 easy one hand openers)
11. Full steel liners
12. Secure lock, but no frame locks
13. Blade cutting edge closer to handle with no finger choil (Griptilian is a hair too far for my preference)
14. Price: under $200

Does something like this exist?

My most carried knives (suburban EDC) are:
1. BM Presidio 1 (favorite)
2. BM Boost
3. Buck 112 DP
4. Buck 112 CP grooved
5. Buck Aluminum 110 DP
6. Modified Opinel No 8 (currently modding a No 9)
7. Occasional BM Amicus, 94x, Griptilian full size

I feel like you should be hunting after a custom, though a fully custom folder built to that spec will run you way more than your asking price.

Anyway, I just had to comment to point out that this is the opposite of most knife recommendation posts we get that are way too vague. :)

IMO this screams Spyderco Tenacious, but if you want a better steel, go with the Polestar! Cutting edge starts right at the end of the handle. Available from a lot of BladeForums supporting dealers ;)

Man, that is a very good, specific set of criteria. Any particular color? :p

Sorry if it sounds like I'm poking fun, but it's nice to read a post by someone who has narrowed down what they want. Wish I could think of some that fit your needs, but I think SpySmasher had the best advice. Look at possibly getting a custom made.

Closest knife I can think of would be a WE 703, but the blade is pretty thick and just over 3.5". It fits the hand nicely and is a decent slicer despite that thick blade (has a nice hollow grind that helps).

** damn it not a full steel liner... i'll leave this here anyway just in case you ease up on that one

North Arm Skaha (copy pasta below), only problem is that it's back ordered like crazy... cherry on top for this piece is that it's the second best flipping/drop shut action i've ever handled

Maximum closed dimensions L x W x H: 4.4″ x 1.4″ x 0.75″ (11.2cm x 3.6cm x 1.9cm)
Blade length (tip to handle): 3.3″ (8.38cm)
Open length: 7.75″ (19.7cm)
Open length: 4.4″ (11.18cm)
Weight: 3.1 oz. (90 grams)

Blade steel: CPM S35VN
Blade hardness: HRC 59-61
Blade thickness at spine: 0.1″ (2.5mm)
Blade Grind: semi hollow (CNC milled)
Cutting edge angle (inclusive): 30°

That's good to hear. The Skaha is on my list.

nothing's topped a mechanically perfect shiro 95r on MRBS for me yet (which i no longer own). the skaha is second best so far, it beats out a shiro neon ultra lite, shiro F3 on SRBS, and a slew of ZTs, kizers, bokers, etc.

I have yet to try a thorburn or a grimsmo. the flat detent ball in the skaha is similar to those featured in the grimsmos, and per one of the knife world's favorite reviewers, the action is on par

not counting washer knives here, a completely different type of action i'm trying to acheive in my mind, so i don't compare them. probably worth noting here that i'm more of a washer knife guy by principal, but can't stay away from flippers because of the action/fidget factor...

Very nice. LOL it just moved up in priority on The List.

WAY under your price, and Chinese made with 8cr13mov (?), but my Kershaw Injection is mighty close to your desires. Ergos on my 3.0 are quite similar to my Spider Monkey. There's also a 3.5 model, with a longer blade/handle. The sharpened edge comes all the way back to the handle, with the ricasso completely concealed. Bronze washers. The index finger guard is pretty narrow, so you can get close to the blade. F&F, centering, lockup, etc on mine is impressive for a $40 knife. At today's closeout prices(<$20), I think it's a steal.

I can't get you there, but I can offer up a couple that are in the ball park...

Southern Grind Spider Monkey: Yes, it has one finger notch, but it makes for a sure grip and facilitates unlocking the knife. Doesn't have steel liners, but it does have titanium, which is pretty awesome and helps to keep the ounces down into your preferred weight class. Very nice rounded grip on these, and the carbon fiber is top shelf.

Benchmade Bone Collector: Again, doesn't hit all the boxes, but you mentioned the grip was very important. This one does the hand justice when using it.

Good luck. I'm sure there's something out there that will appeal to you.

ah, The List... My List is currently indefinitely suspended by the fiancee. the "hobby budget" has been blown up with some new sneakers, a front flipper, music festival/baseball/football tickets...

6. FG or SG blade with DP and no swedge

I believe an Emerson CQC-7A hits all of your bullets except this one: The primary grind is saber, but the edge bevel is a chisel. You can pay someone to regrind it (voiding the warranty), but you might also find that you don't mind it. I figured it'd be worth mentioning since it comes so close. :)

The closest knife I have to the OP's requirements is a Harnds Talisman. The problem is that it is a bit heavy at 4.9oz, there is a bit of a wide finger area on the handle, and the blade steel is just AUS8. Other than that it is what is being looked for and all for $30.

You will have to wait for it a little which is good so that you can replenish you hobby account. The Spyderco Shaman It' like a native 5 on steroids and it's a compression lock not backlock. the only 2 that I am waiting for out of all the new knives in 2017 are The Shaman and the Sliverax.

Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone. I am unfamiliar with some of the knives suggested, so I will do a little research.

I'm really opposed to any semblance of a finger groove (just for this purchase, but not in general). It's the only nitpick I have on my Boost and Amicus. To address some posts, i have considered the Tenacious before so I'm going to put that back onto my consideration list. I have multiple BM Bone Collectors, but I don't like how thin the handle gets at the web of the hands when choked up. I will look further into the Skaha (looks like they are backordered anyway).

Any other suggestions are welcome. I remember seeing a member here post a pic of a knife that looked like it was all black, with really thick, blocky rubber handles, back lock, and not too thick of a blade, but I can't remember who or where he posted it.

Enzo borka might fit the bill. 3.5 blade, thick handle, backlock, several handle options all in your price range. Check it out...

I was looking at the FG version of that. It's definitely in my consideration list, but I really would like a thicker handle.
