Suggestions on a EDC

Enjoying this forum. Any comments on my short list for an EDC would be greatly appreciated. I want something better than the Gerber I've been carrying around for the last six or seven years. Something around 3.75" to 4" closed, and light. Good ergonomics and kind of cool would be nice. And of course, nothing that will make anyone faint if they see it.

Here's the list:

CRKT
Mirage titanium (nice and light, and suprisingly inexpensive)
Kit Carson M-18 (might be a bit big)

Spyderco
Native II Stainless (might be heavy but very cool)
Calypso Jr. Stainless

Benchmade
Mini Griptilian

Gerber
Harsey Air Ranger (might be too big)

Thanks in advance for any replys.

Welcome to the forums, Noah!
Of those you listed, I would get one of the Calypso Jr's before they are gone (they are avalible at a closeout price of $25 at www.eknifeworks.com).
My next choice would be the mini Gripitlian, allthough all are decent knives.

Although its not on your list, I recommend a William Henry Carbon Fiber series. SWEET looking knives, and VERY sheeple-friendly.

VERY well-made, too.

Of your list I believe either Spydercos offer the best performance AND value. Excellent customer service also-

The Spyderco Native is a GREAT choice, but since you are looking for a light-weight knife, get yourself a FRN Native, rather than the much heavier stainless model.

I have not handled a Calypso Jr., however, I do own Native 35/65, in FRN. I consider this knife to be an excellent "little big knife" workhorse of a folder. Along with it being lightweight, it also has great ergonomics, ambidextrous pocket clip, spearpoint blade, and a choice between CPM440V or VG-10 steel. Along with that excellent Spyderco warranty.

As mentioned before, I haven't handled the Calypso Jr., but it is highly recommended by any SpydieKnut. I will eventually get one someday...;)

That William Henry Carbon Fiber is definitely nice. I think it's nicer looking than the Benchmade 773 carbon fiber Osborne I saw the other day.

How about a BM 710? I think they pack a lot of blade for the size, and they don't weigh too much. I may get one tomorrow, heading to a local gun show. It's either that or an MOD Dieter.

Well, I got the CRKT titanium Mirage - seems like you get a lot for the money. Now my problem is, I think there's a lot of other real cool ones out there too. Might also get either the Native or the griptilian for utilitarian stuff. All of the suggestions are cool knives though.

Hi Noah L

This one's not on your list either, but might I suggest a Buck 112. Looks good, handles well and is very dependable. I've carried one for years without complaint. The only downside might be that it is a bit on the heavy side.
