I'm new to the forum, but have been reading it for awhile. I am looking for an edc for pretty hard use. Like farming, fishing, construction, camping. with a blade 3 inch or under. I really like the mini grip. But i would rather have a knife with g10 handle and full metal liners. I found that with the benchmade hk 14210, but im the blade looks to tactical, dont want to freak people out or get hassled by the cops. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks!

Welcome to BF! I honestly don't think a pocketknife's blade shape is going to get you "hassled by the cops", but I understand you wanting something that doesn't look agressive.

How much are you looking to spend? There are lots of options and having a price range will help the folks here narrow down their suggestions.

My favourite heavy duty medium sized folder is probably the Zero Tolerance 0350, the blade is a bit over 3" (3.25"). You can get it with a stonewashed blade and deactivate the assisted opening feature to make it more people friendly.

If you must stay under 3" for legal reasons, take a look at the small Spyderco Persian (blade length is 2.9"). It's one of the best little Spydies, I've got one of the original ones with micarta handles and steel bolsters, and I'm going to get one of the new G-10 ones as well.

Finally, if you're on a budget and don't want to spend too much, the Cold Steel Mini Lawman would be a great hard use EDC knife for about $55-60. Decent steel, G-10 handles and super strong Tri-Ad lock. I have an older American Lawman with full steel liners, and I can tell you the newer ones without liners are better. Just as strong and a lot lighter.

What price range are you looking for? There are a lot of really nice spyderco ones out there in the $35-$80. I've heard great things about the Delica 4 (2.9 in. and a strong lock-back)

And you can't go wrong with a cold steel either. Franciscomv has good advice too

I agree with the lower cost offerings from Cold Steel. You could also check out the new RAT-2s just released; AUS8, G10, liners, and a 3" blade, all for less than $30. Good luck finding an HK14210. They've been disco'd for a while now. Look at the 15030 Bone Collector instead. It's D2, non-tactical looking, and has everything you're asking for usually for less than $100.

thanks for the help everyone , ill looking into these knives. i dont mind spending $100 or atliitle more for a good knife btw.

Benchmade 707 has had some fan posts on here over the years. They have a nice design and are the size you are looking at. My 3" and under blades are CS Mini Recon, Vic Camper, and couple little traditional slippies. A Vic Huntsman's scissors and saw would come in handy for you - Swiss Army models are good companions for modern folders and fixed blades/

I know its not of the type you're describing, but i have had good success with a leatherman tool. I've carried an original, a mini tool, and a wave. I've also abused them pretty good and broken them. I had them repaired or replaced by the factory too. The newer pliers with hard wire cutter notches will cut fence wire. Had one save my butt once when my carburetor stuck wide open on an old 71 truck.

Zero Tolerance may be worth a look.
ZT 0350 - Though it does look tactical.
It is a mid-sized knife that can handle anything. People likely won't freak out.
Especially with a stonewashed version. Maybe even the Orange/SW would be good.

If you can go for something smaller and full titanium, check out the Boker Albatros. Big Beefy knife in a small knife package. It's a great knife.

I also agree with the Benchmade Bone Collector. Maybe even BM 710?

The 710 would be a whole lot over 3 inches. Were you thinking of the 707? That's what popped into my mind.

Look at spyderco tenacious...great value, decent steel...shorter blade
If not for your comment on blade length i would suggest benchmade 710 or spydie paramilitary2

ill tell you from personal experience that unless you try to break the mini grip, it probably wont break. its a very strong knife. if your set on the g10 these guys and gals gave all the same knives I would recomend,
good luck
Paul

Spyderco Native 5 would be a good call I think, Manix 2 if you can go a little larger blade. Both are great knives the native5 shouldn't scare anyone off.
