Well I've been lurking this place for a while and I have a few questions for you.
I'm looking to do sth to the perfectionist designs of BK7 and probably BK9 later on.
So my questions are -
what to use to get the coating off?
what is the best thing to put on an unprotected blade (like vinegar patina)?
What do you guys usually use for cutting metal off (finger choils and maybe sth else, depends on how creative I get)?

Thx in advance. Styx

So to answer your questions, in order, Jasco Epoxy Stripper, Mineral Oil, and a file. For the last one, you can use a grinder, just keep water nearby and keep it cool, or you'll take the temper out of it. Good luck and post pics. Moose

I use a dremel for my file work. It worked fantastic for jimping on the spine. Also, the sprayable stripper from Home Depot worked amazing for stripping my BK-2.

I second the Mineral Oil recommendation for blade protection.

Thx guys. That sounds good. Somehow I have a feeling that I'll try both a dremel and a file.

And I'll be sure to post pics
