Suggestions on Small Fixed

Recently broke a custom knife trying to pry something open and am looking for a small fixed blade to compensate for my thoughtless behavior. I was looking at the DB-LE by Strider and almost settled on that, but I know there are other fixed blades from other companies that I don't know about that might fit the bill.

The requisites are:
  • Thick stock
  • Thick tip
  • 7-8"
  • Preferably tanto
  • Good warranty

Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like you need a small pocket prybar rather than a knife.

i suggest using the screwdriver on a SAK or pliers based multitool.

Have you thought about a custom? mykulmorris is a member here and makes great small knives for very reasonable prices. Order exactly what you want.

Don't know if this may be something that you'd be interested in, but I really love my small fixed... Carter neck knife. Very stout. Very everything! Easily one of my favorite and most useful knives. I didn't think I needed a neck knife, but they are so popular, and I didn't have a Carter... I'm so glad I made this choice.

Lots of knife makers who are members to BladeForums who could satisfy your needs. Always worth a look at the knife makers for sale area right here at home.

I almost pulled the trigger on that some time ago. Do you know what type of steel they use? How's it hold up? I tend to use my knives pretty hard so a high wear resistant and high toughness is ideal for me, I don't mind low corrosion resistance if it has at least 10% Chromium it should be fine for me.

Also have heard much of the Izula but it looked a little thin for my needs and the hollow handle doesn't inspire confidence. How has yours held up to hard/abusive use?

It is a bit pricey though. I have seen it around ~$150-200 some places.

I might try that one as well as some of the others suggested. Thanks. Any other suggestions would really help out.
