Suggestions on which Becker next?

Well I'm going to pick myself up another Becker as I've been bitten by the Becker addiction bug :p Trouble is I'm having trouble picking which model I should grab next. Currently I have a BK14 and BK9. I also just got a Ka-Bar Mark 1 which I've also grown quite fond of. The two models I'm the most interested in are the BK2 and BK16.

I've always wanted a BK2 for all the obvious reasons. I've been looking at getting the BK16 possibly instead since I already have a big bruiser in the BK9. But every time I get close to purchasing the BK16 I start to second guess it and start looking at the BK2 again. If I do grab the BK2 I plan on picking up the micarta handles for it. The BK16 would be good to go as is outta the box. What do you guys think?(besides the obvious answer of buying both lol)

either would be a great choice!

16. The 16 is probably the most versatile knife in the lineup for the majority of the use you will need a knife for. (One could interchange the 17 with it, but you said 16 so that is the direction I am going.) The 2 is a beast, and awesome knife, and one day you need one, but the 16 will serve you better for less weight and in a smaller package for bushcraft use and general outdoors shenanigans.

Sixteen next then, get the Two......I love ALL my children (almost) equally but the Sweet Sixteen is truly the apple of my eye.....Especially as you have a chopper ......

All Best....

Well, not much else to be said. I was going to recommend the 16 as well. It will put the Mark I to shame, so you can sell that one and fund the BK2. :D

Thanks for the fast replies! Now that I'm leaning towards the 16, how would you guys compare the 15, 16 and 17? Honestly I'm not too into the BK17 yet, but I have been looking at the BK15 as well.

So in other words, BK15 or BK16??

This won't help a bit... :)

I got a 16, I like it. Then I got a 5, I really like it... I'll be getting a 15, and I expect I'll like it a lot too. One thing I'm sure of, of the 3, I expect I'll carry and use the 16 most. If you're already questioning between the 15 and 16... get 'em both and save on the shipping.

The BK16 has a stronger point, but the BK15 is the better slicer with a longer blade.

Maybe that will help.

Also, welcome to the forums!

I think your experience level will determine the choice for you. If you are very skilled with a knife at outdoors tasks, the 15 is great and more than capable, but if you are relatively new, the 16 might be more suitable for the tasks you will do while learning. Either choice is a good choice though, albeit much tougher than the choice between the 2 and the 16. Good luck, and stick around, we got some great stuff here!

^^That is a beautiful 16!!!!!

Well I gave in and ordered both last night! Got a 15 and 16 headed my way very soon, thanks guys!

Oh and BTW I already sold my new Ka-Bar Mark I to one of my good buddies to help fund my purchase so I could get both :D

I agree. The 14 and 9 you now have fit the "big" and "small" categories of a service knife. So the 16 would have to be next.

I've had my BK2 for about 14 months now and swear by it. I just now added a BK14 and I'm now good-to-go for my fixed-blade general purpose knife needs personally. A 16 or 17 is in my long-term wish list, but isn't really pressing with the two I now have.

The 15 is a ridiculously addictive knife. Just like the 5, there is really no cutting job that you won't enjoy doing with one.

I wouldn't go THAT far. It's better in that it is a full tang knife. But if you already like the Mark I, You may not like the 16 as much. At least that's how it was for me. Had I got the 16 first, it would be different, but that handle on the Mark-I is just too good. Plus they are so close to each other in size and functionality, you might want to go with another model just to mix up your stable a bit. I'd never get rid of my Mark I.

I really like my 16.
Since you bought both the 15 and 16 let us know which one you like better.

Will do. I plan on stripping both of them when they come in. I already went out and got the supplies so I'm ready to go when they get here.
