Hi fellows,

A friend of mine is going to Orlando on a vacation trip,
and kindly volunteered to bring me some goodies.
I plan to ask her to buy me some knives (most Victorinox
and Leatherman) and flashlights (Mags, probably).

Would someone on that area indicate some good spots
to shop for those itens? I don't want to turn her
trip on an unpleasant searching experience, she is no
knife knut.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english.

The one retail cutlery shop I am aware of in Orlando is the Knife Factory at the Prime Factory Outlet Mall on International Drive. They have a good selection, or at least they did when I was last there 5 years ago. Last time I was up there I picked up an applegate/fairbairn folder (that ended its time with me in the airport amnesty box) for a good price.

here is a link with the address of the outlet center as well as a map of the mall. The Knife Factory is #137 in Mall 2. oops.http://www.orlandotouristinformationbureau.com/shopping/malls/belzoutlet.htm

I don't know how specialized a selection you are looking for, but I'm sure you can't go wrong checking out the Bass Pro Shop. It is definitely worthy of any vacation destination.

Edit to add: They are open 24 hours and are somewhat of a tourist attraction.

Nothing too specialized, mather of fact, just stuff not available here or that is too expensive. Leatherman Charge XTi, Victorinox Cybertool and One Handded Trekker, Maglites or some equivalente flashlight. Maybe a tactical folder, like the above cited Applegate/Fairbairn or a black serrated Spyderco Military and another multitool.

Thank you both for the sugestions. They will surely help.

Wow ! A question about shopping in the USA that I can answer from Good Ol' England! *LOL*

The Knife Factory were still selling a good variety of blades a couple of years ago when I was there so should be a good place to head for.
The Bass Pro Shop is actually called "Outdoor World" according to the HUGE sign on the front of the building. Their selection of knives was not quite as comprehensive as The Knife Factory, but is still pretty big.

My good Lady still calls any moment of awe a "Bass Pro Moment" in memory of the day we went and I just stood there with my mouth open and eyes shining, like a kid in a candy factory, wondering which way to explore first! *LOLOL* Coming from England where a big fishing tackle shop or a big gun shop might get as large as 5000 sqare feet it came as a bit of a shock to go to one where they measure the shop floor in Acres ! :D It took my credit card 18 months to recover from the caning I gave it that day but oh boy, it was worth it.

See Steve at his North Orlando location. Smaller than the X-marts for the masses, but better selection.
