I'm in the market for a new EDC/SD folder. I once had a 5" Voyager Clip Point and loved it, it did everything from kitchen to social situations. I traded it for a Timberline medium Worden because i thought that Michigan state laws said no to my beloved CS. Now i've found out that i'm wrong and want another larger knife. I'm now working in an office setting, so I would like a knife that looks kosher. I really want something with tip up carry and a blade length of around 4". I'm ambidextrous, so one that could be converted to left side carry would be nice to back up my handgun on the right side. I'm willing to spend around $100, but less is always better. Two knives that have really caught my attention is the D2 Griptilian and Ritter Griptilian, both large. I have a small pocket knife for box opening and such, so i'm just looking for something for larger jobs. Thanks.

also, I can't seem to figure out if my CS Mini-Tac (4" fixed blade) is legal for carry in Michigan. I've been here for 7months and have carried it. I'm not sure if it could be considered a dagger or dirk because the law does not define either term. I really like it and it keeps a good enuff edge that i shave with it to show off.

Dagger laws are shady in order to leave them up to an officer's best discretion, IMO. This can help or hurt you. On one hand, if you're trespassing it's another charge on your bill, but if you're minding your own business and don't whip it out a lot where people are going to take notice and call someone, you're probably ok. I would suggest visiting your local PD and asking them, you may find them surprisingly open and honest to talk with you about what's ok to do and what's not.

In any case, there's a knife laws forum here where people in your area may be able to better weigh in.

As far as your main question, I don't know of a lot of ambidextrous knives. Spyderco offers some reversible pocket clips, like the "Salt" series, but not a lot. Some of them may be tip-down, also (which I HATE).

I really like the Voyager too, though I have a tanto point as it's more useful to me for heavy duty work. I wouldn't shy away from getting another one.

The Ritters/Griptilians have a huge, almost religious following here, you'll find a LOT of people telling you to get one.

As far as not too hairy-scary looking 4"-ish folders, there are about 10000000 models out there to choose from, and 2 or 3 threads similar just this week. Such as this one, on which I posted up a fairly lengthy bunch of suggestions.

Good luck
