My wife just gave me a $50 gift certificate to Country Knives in Intercourse, PA for my birthday.
It's been a while since I bought a knife so I'm a little overwhelmed over what to buy.
I'm definitely not a collector so I use every knife I own.
My absolute favorites right now are my Benchmade 806 Axis in D2 and of course my Large Sebenza.
Anyway, I'd like a good user; preferably tip up carry and I do like liner locks although another Axis lock or lock back would also fit the bill.
I'll also put another $50 toward the purchase so keep your suggestions below $100.
An outside consideration is a Queen Mountain Man.
Always loved them, but I probably wouldn't carry it much because it's not one handed opening, nor does it have a clip.
OK, let the suggestions fly.
Thanks,
Lenny

Yeah, the Delica 4 looks like a possibility.
Forgot to mention that I'm only looking for folders in the smaller sizes.
How bout Kershaw? No assisted openers though, just not my thing.
Griptilians?
Anybody know anything about the Al Mar Falcon or Lone Wolf City Knife?

So it sounds like you want one hand opening, a clip, and a price tag of <$100.00. Lock type is open.

What other preferences do you have?
Steel?
Blade length?
Blade shape?
Handle material?
Does country of origin matter to you?
You will probably get more specific suggestions if you provide more information.

Just out of the blue I will suggest an Ontario RAT 1 because it's on my own wish list. Liner lock, 3.5" drop point AUS8 steel. About $70.00

I can offer a little advice on the Lone Wolf City knife, I bought the larger Lone Wolf Loveless Folder in canvas micarta and it is superb in fit & finish. It is made at the same factory in Italy as the City Knife.

If you want something a little different , you won't be disappointed.

I can vouch for the usability of either the Delica 4 or the mini-Grip. I have several models of both and carry one or the other 24/7. Never had a problem with the blades, locks, or handles. FRN is fine for rugged usage, both BM's Axis lock and Spyderco's lockback are secure, and VG-10 and 154CM steels touch up or even resharpen quite nicely.

Neither knife will win any "beauty contests" compared to some of the more polished knives out there, but for $50.00 or so, function is gonna be much more buyable than form.

I've also heard good things about the other brands mentioned here, I just don't have any experience with them.

I would say a Benchmade 14210.

I know they can be found online for around $100 but I'm not sure if you will get it for that from a knife store.

As much as everyone seems to love mini-griptilians, I'm really suprised there is not more talk about this knife.

Benchmade Gravitator, titanium liners, two tone G10, 154CM blade, cca $100.

To answer your questions: Yes I want one hand opening, a clip, and a price tag of <$100.00. Lock type is open (however I prefer good liner locks due to their ergnomics)
- Steel; not a big preference here, just not in the 420J class :D
- Blade shape; again, not a big preference here, although I've always wanted to try a straight edge sheepsfoot style
- Handle material; I really like G 10 although I wouldn't mind a nicely done metal handle
- Country of origin; I could care less.
