SUGGESTIONS WANTED - Elishewitz 690 Replacement Clip

I need my fellow member’s suggestions for a replacement to a discontinued clip.

I am the recent owner of a discontinued Elishewitz 690 with Carbon Fiber & Rosewood Scales similar to the one depicted below. However, the original owner lost the OEM clip and Benchmade no longer carries it.

I am looking for suggestions or experiences on what to install, or perhaps someone has an available 690 clip lying around in need of a home. Either way your input is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I’ve seen them there on occasions too, but nothing yet.

Since Benchmade no longer carries that unique clip, they’ve offered to buy back the knife at its original MSRP (they said approx. $200) and credit that $ amount towards a new BM knife of my choice. Any thoughts if in my shoes?

I love the look of the knife, kind of an early 698 Foray, but I’m not a fan of the liner lock or 154CM steel used. It’s the 1st knife I’ve ever seen with a Boron Carbide coated blade and blue titanium liners. None of the current BM 2-hole clips fit, including the tiny Bugout as the 690 holes are closer together.

Keep in mind that they'll also charge MSRP on whatever model you choose...
Still, $200 made me briefly consider pulling the clip off mine, selling it to you, and trading mine in on something

The Bugout clip looks very nice on it. I would need to modify the hole pattern on the clip to make it work if I decide to do so.

You can’t beat Benchmade’s customer service though! They are just trying to make it right. Top notch.

I would take the opportunity to have someone tap it for tip up carry. But that's because I hate tip down knives.

Even with a new clip, you're still going to have a tip down liner lock. If it was me, I'd take that $200 trade in credit in a heartbeat and get an Axis knife.

I think you’re right and now debating what to get!
  • Another 940?
  • Add $ and get something better?
  • Choices, choices

Wonder if Benchmade would drill and tap for current issue clip that suits the style of the knife?

I inquired with BM and they said no. Which is why I believe they’ve made a good faith offer to take back the knife.

If you have a $200 credit from benchmade, you could do a strait swap for the 940-2. Or pay an additional $15 for the 940. But their customer service is so good, I bet they would even just wave that extra $15.

Have one of each already, including the 940-1!

UPDATE:

So, while I greatly appreciate all the input from BF Members to:
  • search eBay;
  • fabricate a custom clip;
  • modify an existing clip;
  • send back to BM & accept their good faith reimbursement-credit offer.
...I’ve decided to list it for sale on BladeForums.

Thanks again!

I would trade it in for a custom shop Barrage in M4, de-assist it and buy aftermarket Putnam G10 scales to slim it down some. There is a full size grip option as well, if you want a slightly smaller blade. These both should be between $160-$200 last time I checkes.

For $5 more you can have either in 20CV.

Edit to add: This wouldn't be a bad deal for someone to buy and send in for a slightly pricier knife.
