so im looking to buy myself a multi tool (plyer type). im not sure which direction to go, should i go for one hand open, butterfly open, traditional?

i do want it to have a knife blade, philips (not detachable bit), flat head, bottle/ can opener, saw, file, scissors would be nice but not needed. is it true that sog lets you customize and select your bits?

i know how expensive they can get, so im looking to buy one to last me, money is no option upto about 200ish.

thanks all in advance

The Swiss Tool Spirit X (medium) and the Swiss Tool X (large) both have all the tools you want. Both are butterfly opening with all tools accessible from the outside. Both are very good and sturdy. The only downside to the Spirit are the wierd scissors, they cut very well but don't open very far.

In my experience, apart from the nicer plier head on the SOG, everything else about the Swiss Tool is lightyears ahead in both quality and function. Just my opinion though, alot of people seem to like the SOGs.

Big isn't always good b/c of weight so make sure you take that into consideration.

Rare to see someone from LI, NY. I go to Stony Brook U :D

I carry a leatherman surge at work-bit heavy on the old belt n pants.
the gerber crux is one that i like- nice little needle nose pliers & all the trimmings
so there y go. hope that helps. if you want to spend 200 bux you should be able to get quality.

A Leatherman Blast would also fit your needs well. Personally I prefer my Victorinox Spirit X, but the Blast is still a good option.
