I took an hour or so the other day to hit the local woods, scout out some raspberry bushes. I promised some friends I'd take them berry picking this summer.

This stream is normally a trickle, but we've had a lot of rain here lately.

I'll keep my eyes on this sumac clone. Some nice walking stick material, as well as berries for sumac-ade.

A flowing mayapple.

This old cherry stump had some interesting figure. Bing cherry trees are common in this area, for some reason. I got all excited at the prospect of bringing it home, but it was way too rotten on the inside. Still, it's nice to find beauty even in a rotten stump.

No big deal, just a few snaps from a short walk. I'll be back!

Cool Pics, I love rasberries. I am waiting for our blackberries to ripen up some. Love the look of the cherry tree trunk.

Cool pics. I cant wait for berries.....Gooseberry pie.....Nice blackberry cobbler......Oh yeah.

Nice pictures. If you have the squirts, a tea made out of rasberry root (more potent) or leaves (less potent) will bind you up. The grain on that cherry was quite beautiful. What would you have made with it if you harvested the wood?

I suppose I'd have carved a large bowl or trencher. I hadn't heard that about raspberry root, sounds good!
