Summer 2017 - Italy and Austria

Now the weather here is pretty poor I finally got around to sorting out pics from last summer to Italy and Austria.
Here's some I wanted to share with you guys, hope you enjoy it.

We travelled further south, it was getting hotter and hotter... around 40 degrees celsius...

Luckily Italians provide free drinking water in their towns

Saw a small snake on the path.

And a lucky catch... lizards all over the place but quick as hell

In the middle of a forest suddenly these ruins of a castle tower

The castle is in northern Italy, very close to the Austrian border.
I think it was in/near Brennero iirc

Beautiful! I traveled in that area in the early 70's when I was stationed in Southern Germany. (Bayreuth) A beautiful part of the world indeed.--KV

Did you actually go into the castle? I drove across Italy once from Livorno to Forti (?) and we saw castles well of the road we were on, but time did not allow us to visit them. I wonder if they had a water source at that castle, would hate to think you had to haul water up to it, and pity the poor sentry flanking post some cold January night on those castle walls. John

I've viited Livorno in the past I believe. I visited Cinque terra and some more places on the coast. very nice there!

We walked up to the castle but unfortunately it was closed at that day.
On other times it was open to visitors.
I think people actually live in there now. Probably not the most comfortable place

Never too lale buddy, appreciate your comments.
You should tag along with us, I often find lakes and streams with 'Guinness' in it. More in summer time that during winter though

Great pics and beautiful landscapes . This is somehow the beauty of Europe, isn't it? You get the Nature but also History seems to impregnate every stone, trail, road, from small hamlets to Capital Cities. Thanks for sharing , beautiful shots with the insects and animals also !

It's so sad that I can't see your pics( We are going to visit Austria in spring and I've already started planning the trip. Currently, I'm looking for useful info about must-visit places and helpful recommendations.

Vienna is my number one, other than that i highly recommend to visit Austrian Alps.
Unfortunately it can be accessed only with the car and you also gonna need to order yourself a vignette in advance vignetteosterreich.de.
At the end it is absolutely worth it in my opinion, cause you will have some incredible views on the mountains and lakes.
