I'm a band director at a high school of Phoenix, AZ and took a nice vacation back home in the Ohio Valley this summer - and aquired some new steel to try out.

First up is a KDSH. I wrapped up the handle and chucked it more than a time or two at a West Virginian Maple stump. This was the result:

Swamprat customer service was great and quickly outfitted me with a new one. They'd cited a heat treatment issue with the former. the new one does react differently when hurled into a stump. It has more give and will noticably vibrate at the handle.

I had time to do some turtling and caught me a few.

The KDSH served me well in this area also. Overall I am quite pleased with this piece of steel.

And I finally got my TGLB and AMS. the website, I believe, quotes the wait time as 4 -6 weeks. I called on the sixth week and was told that the wait time is 4 - 8 weeks. By week 11 I received notice of my order's completion. I had ordered and AMS for myself and one for a close friend's birthday as I scheduled a drive to New Jersey to visit him. The AMS was not ready in time for me to take it to him so I had it mailed. Though he is very pleased with the gift I would have much rather handed it to him myself. Had the quoted processing time been more accurate I could have planned my trip accordingly. Besides the gross inaccuracy of my order's processing time I had great experience with customer service. Here are some shots of my blades:

My vacation was interrupted by a short hospital stay due to appendicitis. I took the AMS to keep me company:

The TGLB wasn't the best choice for this job but I had to try it out. The AMS was a great turtle skinner/cleaner:

I wanted to get more field use out of the Busses but they arrived near the end of my time in Ohio/WV. They are quite beautiful pieces and I look forward to breaking them in at the next given opportunities. There isn't a whole lotta choppin to do at my current residence.

Thanks for sharing. Turtles as a meal is not very common here. Mainly because turtle species are endangered so I have to ask....how do they taste?

The only turtle I have eaten was in turtle soup in New Orleans years ago, and it was GREAT!:thumbup:

Thank you for sharing your photos with us and congratulations on some great steel!

Nice line up.

The KSD's are pretty thin for an impact tool! I am surprised with the hard use we have seen there have not been a few more issues.

Great that they replaced it for you. Their warranty is one of the reasons people love them.
