I have been enjoying some outstanding summer beers over the last few weeks as it has been hanging around 100 degrees in the shade here in Georgia (heat index has reached 115 several times), and it has been very dry. I work outside most of the day, and nothing is as refreshing in the evening as a few ice cold beers. Some of my favorites, to date, are Shiner Ruby Red (infused w/ a hint of grapefruit), R. J. Rocker's Son of a Peach, 21st Amendment's Hell or High Watermelon, and Sweetwater's Road Trip. Now..., before you "purists" (aka. beer snobs) start talking about "fruiting the beer,":D you should give one or all of these a try. They are REMARKABLE with unique character and flavor notes. What else should I try?????:)

Bro, you MUST try Victory Brewery's new beer Headwaters. Light (for Victory :p), flavorful, and mid-strength; perfect for those who don't want to sacrifice taste for a lighter beer.

What fruit is in Sweetwater's Road Trip? No offense but Summer means IPAs to me so :thumbdn: to fruit but if I see those mentioned I'll give them a try....Maybe as long as my wife thinks it sounds good too. :foot:

There are some wine-like-beers that are pretty good (but expensive - $10 - $30+ per 12oz bottle, depending on how long it has been aged) but they will knock you on your arse; 9 - 13% alcohol content. I can't remember who makes them (or where they are made)... I think it may be somewhere in England or Spain, possibly the US. I had a few $15-$25 bottles a couple years ago purchased from 'Beers of the World' in Rochester, NY. They taste pretty good, albeit very strong, and kind of flat (which, I believe, is how it is supposed to be).
Sierra Nevada...
Hoegaarden (my personal favorite): a Belgium White/Wheat Ale; i.e. Blue Moon (Coors)is a rip-off version that is much more popular in the States.
Sam Adams (Cherry Wheat if you like’fruity’ beer) – but, IMHO, you can’t go wrong with a Sam Adams...
Pyramid Apricot Weizen: another Wheat-style beer with hints of apricot – very good summer-time beer...
Sammy Smiths (expensive) Oatmeal Stout, Pilsner (summer-time), Pale Ale, Nutbrown, and etcetera… are some of my favorites; specifically their Oatmeal Stout – or Pilsner.
Corona w/ lime...
Just to name a few… I’m a beer-snob (Connoisseur – I’ve tried hundreds of different beers) as I don’t really drink hard liquor, save for Blue Agave tequila (margarita, on the rocks or other), Bacardi Rum (Mojito) and crystal head Vodka (with many things, particularly White Russians in the winter). So I mainly drink beer or sometimes wine...

I think you mean connoisseur but if you're making money drinking beer please share your secret with me! I'll buy a franchise! ;)

Sierra Nevada Summerfest is the stuff

Another I just tried last weekend was Trumer Pils. Easily the best pilsner I've had and incredible for hot weather. Highly recommended.

Urthel Saisonniere (I tried this last night. I'm not even a fan of Saisons but this stuff was a knockout. Try it if you can find it.) (Netherlands)
DeRanke XX Bitter (Belgium)
Hoegaarden (drinking it tonight) (Belgium)
Moosbacher Lager (Germany)
Mahr's Brau Pilsner (Germany)
Pilsner Urquell (Czech Republic)
Grolsch (Netherlands)
Stoudt's Pils (Pennsylvania)
Any good German Kolsch.

Ok. I won't say anything about the "fruitiness" of your choices. :D

I prefer IPA's pretty much year around. But summer makes me think of wheat beers........one of my favorite wheat beers is "Hop Sun" by Southern Tier Brewery.....quite delish.

Abita Purple Haze
Any of the other abita brews
Ballast point Big Eye IPA
Ballast Point Yellowtail Pale
Eel River IPA
Eel River California Blonde
Stoudts Heff n' Wheat
Sly Fox Royal Weiss
Gritty's Vacationland Summer Ale
Flying Fish Farmhouse Summer Ale
Long Trail Blackberry wheat
..............

Miller Lite, and PBR.

They won't brake the bank and they're easy to find :D

Boulevard Boss Tom's Bock
Sam Adams Blackberry Wit -- whenever it comes out this year
Saranac usually does a couple good summer beers
another vote for Leinie's

My Favorite Seasonals:
Anderson Valley - Summer Solstice (Summer)
Sierra Nevada – Big Foot Barley Wine (late winter, can still find it here now)

These are the staples:
Budweiser – in a can (12, 16, or 24 oz)
Sierra Nevada - Torpedo Extra IPA
Bear Republic - Racer 5 IPA
Firestone – Union Jack IPA
Ninkasi - Tricerahops Double IPA

I love IPA’s

Not sure what sort of Abita products you can get there, Abita is RIGHT up the road so we get many of their specialty/seasonal/micro batches....if you get a chance, try Andygator. After a pitcher of the stuff, your face feels like it was hit with a dose of Novocaine. We do a mix of layer of Gator over a good Guinness called a Chuck Norris....probably because you have to pick your *ick up out the dirt after a few.....

But many of Abitas beers are great....EXCEPT their IPA. First time I ever saw drunks refuse free beer.

Sam Adams Blackberry Witbier and Lienenkugal's Summer Shandy is bad ass, but it needs to be ice cold !
