Alright so im thinking right. I looked at spyderco pacific salt like hey this would be good to take with me fishing. Im going to be going fishing again, i havent in years because my gf didnt enjoy it so i just let it go.. but she left me suddenly a few days ago without much reasoning :(. Part of my grieving is just trying to have some fun be a little care free for a while.. i just got hired for a new job at lowes and start in a few weeks and itll be making about 3$ a hour more then i was so i feel like im entitled to a little bit of fun and celebration to feel happy about my new job and get the heart break off my mind.

I was thinking of the pacific salt cause it would be good for fishing and decent for edc stuff.. but its 70 bucks and im not entirely sure that it would be worth it. Would it be worth it or should i just get something that i feel is more fun and just get a bait knife and cheaper filet knife for fishing? like a diff knife like the sog spec elite iv had my eye on for a while (still have mixed feelings) and a 7$ kershaw bait knife or a mora or somethin.?

If you are going to be spending a lot of time in a highly salinated environment, go for the Pacific salt. Since it is essentially an Endura, it will probably serve you quite well for any EDC tasks. One the things to consider is the H1 steel, it's edge retention isn't the best, but it resharpens very easily.

i probablly wont go out to the sea much.. idk if this is a real term or not but my family always called it brackish water. Its salt mixed with fresh, has catfish pike striper certin times of year eels and other things that idk the names of lol

If you rinse off your knife after using it, any folder would work. If you don't really want to worry about that, get the Pacific Salt. Brackish is a real term BTW. It wouldn't be the best for a knife if it wasn't cleaned.

trying to decide if i should even use a folder or just buy a cheaper fixed blade and leave it in the box. decisions decisions.. im a bit out the loop been close to 4 years since i went.

There's nothing wrong with the Salt series. You get a good knife for the money. If I was going to be working in brackish or salt water, I'd bring the Salt. It sounds like you want one, so go for it!

i do want want.. hell i want everything i see lol..

I've had a Pacific Salt for the last 10 years or so... Great knife, and yes all you really have to do is wash it off after use in unkind waters. Oiling the pivot and what not helps a bit too ;)

I picked up the dragonfly in h1 recently and so far I love it. Like Bugout Bill said, the edge retention isn't the best but for me it is one of the easiest steels to get razor sharp. A couple swipes on a stone or strop and you're all set.

im not gonna rush the decision just yet, prob wont go out for a week or so anyway. gota think about it a little.

Go for it and get it! I only go fishing a few times a year, but I always take it with me. It also gets used every time I go to the beach or pool. I don't need to take it out of my pocket if I'm gonna get in the water which is cool because if you leave it by your towel it might grow legs and walk away.

When I got the Pacific Salt my collection consisted of a Kershaw Leek, CRKT m21 (or 16? the big one), and some smaller knives; the Salt got carried the most every day.

I have a plain edge version, and even though people say that it doesn't hold it's edge well, I can't complain. I also think it's true what people say about H1 holding it's edge better the more you sharpen it.

One recommendation though: go for the screwed version (if there is one), not the riveted. Mine is riveted and has developed some blade play which I can't fix.

Oh, and I forgot to add, you can get it for less than $70 if you shop around online.
