Haven't seen one of these in some time.....what are you carrying during the warmer months? I've cut waaaaay back/down-sized compared to what I carry during winter.
Kimber Series 1 Ultra Carry (gift from my dad) with Ross leather, Wilson mag, Federal 165gr EFMJ Low Recoil, *custom*;) grip tape front strap and thin cocobolo grips.
Emerson "Waved" Commander.
Beat near to death cell phone.
That's about it other than keys and wallet. At night I'll usualy throw a SF G2 in my back pocket.

If I'm around where I live, I'm packin' my Glock .40 model 27, loaded with 12 rounds of 135 gr. Federal JHP. If I'm on the road, I'm packin' my Glock 10mm model 20, loaded with 16 rounds of the same 135 gr. Federal JHP. I generally have a spare mag (15 rounds) of 175 gr Win. Silvertips for the 10mm. I carry both pistols, IWB, in "plastic" Blade-Tech holsters, Summer and Winter.

usually a kahr PM9 in ther summer, in cooler times a kahr P9 or a glock 33 so really not much difference, as far as knives right now either a strider SmF recurve or a spyderco Ti ATR, same in the fall/winter. i pretty well have my edc stuff figured out now & its pretty much the same irregardless of the time of yr, sometimes in really cold weather i will pack a SIG P220 .45 or a kimber ultra carry 1911 in a shoulder holster but its more just to do something a little different rather than something i am required to do, am pretty happy with all my SD gear right now for the first time ever really.

Keltec P3AT .380 & Spyderco Millie/Emerson Commander. Add a FS Utility or Lagriffe if out on the town.

Glockman, do I read you right? Are you able to load up a 10mm Glock with 40 cal. rounds and it still functions properly? If so, that is one really versatile handgun. Or, are you loading up 10mm brass with 135 gr. bullets?

Both the .40 and the 10mm use the exact SAME bullets...They are both the same size. Think of it like the 38 special & .357 magnum....Same bullet, but one has a longer case and can hold more powder. Same with the Federal JHP rounds that I carry in my Glocks...Same bullet in both the .40 & the 10mm, but a longer case in the 10mm...The 10mm is sort of like a ".40 magnum". I only shoot factory loads in my Glocks.

Just curious why you selected the .40 for where you live and the 10mm for the road? Is it about the magazine capacity, or...?

The 10mm has quite a bit more "power" than the .40, so if I had to shoot at somebody who was trying to kill me with, or in their car, the 10mm would have a better chance of going through glass or a car body than the .40 would. When I'm "on the road" in my car I usually load my 10mm with the 175 grain Winchester Silvertips.

The .40 is alittle easier to control for rapid-fire follow-up shots.

Ah! ::Lightbulb moment::

Okay sort of off the topic, but seems like guys that would know will be posting here. I've been toying with the idea of getting some sort of small frame .45 auto, (I've been thinking Kimber but they are terribly expensive and I do not care for glocks). Whichever I end up with how to I edc it? My daily dress is "business casual" which in my case means a polo shirt and slacks during the summer and a button down or light sweater and slacks in the winter. The shirt is tucked in so I can't leave it untucked and covering up a holstered gun. So in that case what are my options?

Gotcha! Thanks Glockman. I like your sigline. :) If you're polite and professional you shouldn't have too many people give you problems. But, for those who do.....;)

G27... And if I'm traveling, I'll throw my G23 in the bag as a "spare"...
As to blades, at least one BM and a slipjoint for the sheeple... ;)

Colt Government Model .45 (full sized)
8 rounds in the piece plus an extra 16 on my other hip.
Emerson Commander
Cell phone
Victorinox SAK Outrider

Blade-Tech holsters are all I use now. The Ultimate concealed carry model they sell does an incredible job at concealing a pistol - even with my shirt tucked in!

And I live in Florida so... This is how I go year round!

Triton,
I've heard horror stories about malfunctions in smaller framed .45s from very reputable companies. I chose to go with the full-sized government model. It isn't difficult to conceal either. I'm 6' and 177lbs. I wear a lot of shorts and t-shirts and conceal without a problem.

Invest in a couple of Sentry Solutions Marine Tough Cloths, though. Blued .45s are rust monsters.

i have never had a malfunction in my kimber ultra carry, not once ever.

imho a lot of the problems with small frame 1911s was back in the '80s and most of the problems are long gone now, as long as ya stick with colt, kimber, one of the mainstream manufacturers i dont think ya would have any problems. of course theoretically the smaller ones would be more liable to problems vs the full size 1911s.

imho its pretty hard to conceal a full size 1911 on a daily basis in hot weather, it can be done but its a hassle (to me anyway) just too many smaller pistols around which work just as well. i did it for several yrs (ie 1911 and a SIG P220) and couldnt believe how much easier a glock 26 or a kahr P9 carries vs a 1911,

+1
I haven't put too many rounds downrange with this one yet, put my last Kimber (Series 1 Compact Carry) had in excess of 15k rds thru it. Very reliable!
Good firm grip, good ammo/mags, swap the springs before you have to and somewhat clean and you're GTG. The same can be said for most any auto loader. Limp wristing is a huge problem with these short slide guns. Again, a good firm grip is needed. I carry the low recoil 165's for a few reasons. Better velocity/less *kick* compared to the 230's and with my wrist (4 corner fusion not too long ago) I am a bit recoil sensative at the moment.:o Not that I think I would care/notice if I had to use it in a real world defensive situation, but I don't like leaving the range with a swollen wrist either.
Kramer makes a suh-weet inside the waistband holster for these little guns (and many others as well) All you *might* see is two small leather straps on your belt. Put the straps by your belt loop and they vanish.

imho auto pistols have really been improved over the last 20 yrs, lots are throated/ramped from the factory, just really seem to be better made now vs then, i remember when getting a pistol and having to do some mods to it just to get it to work was std procedure, i guess my SIG P220 was my first pistol that was 100% from the factory, got it in the late '80s, so imho some things do change for the better.

ammo is a lot better now also, bullet designers now actually take into consideration if the design will feed properly which imho they did not use to do. also most test for expansion by shooting into gel thru denim vs just into the gel, the denim provides some insight on how they will work in the real world. good moves imho.

lotsa nice edc pistols around these days imho.
