Hey all!
I couldn't find a welcome page so I guess I will do it here. Two or so months ago, back in senior year of high school, my friend and I were talking to each other about knives, as he has his fair share and as do I. Me being the engineer and him being the artist, we turned to each other and said "You know, we are both graduation, we are both now Eagle Scouts, Let's make some knives." Right away during woodshop we started researching the best steel to buy, how much we wanted vs how much was cheapest, and how to heat treat. We decided at $40 from Admiral Steel, we might as well give it a try.

Anyways, we started our designs on graph paper, then I transferred them to CAD and we cut them out through water-jet (Yes, not 100% hand made, but hey, we could get some cool designs easily, and best of all, FREE). Here they are right after the water jet, and heading onto the next stage of rough grinding

Tuesday and Yesterday we got more work done. We hardened all of the knives and got the final blade polishing/smoothing down. For the two exoframe knives and the reverse tanto, we went with a aluminum oxide finish. The others are getting a polished finish. Also, the chisel tip/eod ended up getting WAY too hot (we were surprised-our stove isn't that amazing...) And started melting itself. That was the worst of the casualties, another knife got bent, but no cracking or snapping.

The reverse Tanto is nearly done, just needs the handle to be done.
