How is your summer? I have spent over 35 summers in Alaska and never seen a nicer one than this. We have had a short rain almost every day and temps in the 70s. The most unusual aspect is the lack of mosquitoes and other bugs.
We seem to have warmer summers but unlike this year for the last few years the smoke from fires has been bad. Now if I can find a place with weather like this in the winter.

One of the reasons for bird migrations is the Arctic insect population in the summer. Have you noticed any effect on them, on breeding success?

I live near a wildlife refuge and there are a lot of birds. I am thinking the shortage of bugs is local here in the interior. We had a short extreme cold spell and little snow that killed the larva. My only problem is there are tons of opportunities for all sorts of activities but i have little time to enjoy them because summers are my busiest time of year.
