Hey fellas! The Mrs. left to have lunch with a bunch of friends at a local mall (:barf:), so I volunteered to split some firewood in her absence! I have been buying, selling, wheeling, and dealing Bussekin so much lately that I have forgot to have fun with these knives I love so much. I have a confession to make, so here it comes and be gentle...I had not chopped with a Busse knife before today  I have Mistresses, Fusion Steel Hearts, HOGFSHs, and I have never used them! Don't get me wrong; I have chopped with a Battle Rat, Dogfather, Ranger RD-9 and the like, but never with INFI. I thought INFI was all hype and the knives were too pretty to use, but that all changed today. Ignorance is bliss, but now I am sold on INFI for sure! My buddy and I chopped down a tree 6'' in diameter in a matter of minutes. I apologize but I have no pictures of the tree chopping. It was after this I grabbed the camera and started shooting. I'll let the pics speak for themselves but I am very happy with my new Mistress. I hope you guys enjoy my less than stellar pictures!

Cool man, thanks for the pics.

I whailed on a huge tree outside my house with my mistress and now every time my wife looks at it, she comments on how horrible the tree looks now.

Yes it certainly is the FFBM, thanks Helle! Man, it was a HUGE step up from my Battle Rat, which chops like a dream. The FFBM just ate, literally ate through the tree my buddy and I chopped. I don't think there is any going back...

Thanks for sharing, she's a beautiful lady
There's nothing like chopping with a mistress. I'm lucky enough that I can use my nmfbm daily at work

I just chopped with my ffbm today for the first time.
I was chopping a hard log with no nails or anything in it and when I was done I noticed a very small chip in the edge.
Yes it was a chip and not a roll.
It made me sick. I couldn't believe it

:( That sucks... Like the first scratch on a new car.

Factory edge? or was it thinned at all? Was working on convexing mine today.

I always hate damaging an edge that I have already properly convexed. But when it happens to a piece of infi, it means I get to convex it proper. I have never had a chip in an edge yet with infi. Even when I found some small round stones that got cut in half on my chopping block. Not sure if where they came from, they must have been stuck in the wood or in mud on the wood or something. Very very minimal damage. just steeled it a bit, and then convexed it.

The edge was factory, and it was very sharp.
I just don't understand how it could have happened. There was no rocks or metal of any kind in that piece of wood

Sometimes as you get to the bottom of a piece of wood you can catch stones on the ground...it has happened to me countless times...most small chips have no "user" negatives on the edge...a quick run over on the belt sander to straighten out the roll and the little bit missing is hardly noticed....over time with sharpening it will fade into the main edge...if it is sharp and still cuts and chops...it is fine.

It just takes a bit of getting your head around the first time the scratch or whatever gets noticed on a new bit of kit....after that they are just "battle honours"....

Personally I find the more I use my Busse's and get to one or two re-sharpened grinds...the tougher the edge is...the factory edges must have to be done at some speed and create some heat...after a little stock removal I bet it does'nt happen and simply "rolls" so you can straighten it out...

The best thing to do is develop the skill sets of using belt sanders etc to learn how to re-profile an edge and then the irritation melts away as it is litterally a couple of passes on the belt and the job is done.:)

:D - 2 smacks with a baton, and LATERS! It made splitting that wood a breeze man; almost cheating lol!

Jeepin, send it in, just shoot Amy-O an e mail, she will take care of you if there is a problem.

No it's to small to bother with I will just keep using it and when it gets dull I will attempt to get it out myself.
