I have already received my villager and let me tell you it is everything that I have been looking for. Bura did a outstanding job on these knives. Yangdu had this kukri made for me and it took a lot of convencing to get Bura to make a villager. He is a royal Kami and to make a villager is really a beneath his capability. Its a matter of pride. Yangdu was able to overcome this and Bura produced a limited quanity. If you are really intrested in a true villager made by the last of the royal kamies I urge you to contact Yangda reserve one before they are all gone.
I obtained my first kukri in 1968 while I was going to a British run jungle school That kukri served me well on three tours in Nam. I gave it to my counter part upon my departure from the nam. His gain was my loss.
Several years later I decided that I needed a new kukri. and the search was on. Kukri came and went. Finally a old gurka who was a friend had a villager made for me. This kukri has served me faithfully for the last 36 years. It is time for this old friend to retire and become a honered member of my collection. I started looking for a replacement but trying to find a true villager is almost impossible.
I contacted Yangdu and she said she would see what could be done. I sent her my old friend for a pattern. The requirements were that the blade not be polished. (It dosen't reflect sun light) flashes can get you killed. The other requirement was the addition of a guard to prevent my hand from slipping down on the blade.(You may laugh but accidents do happen.) Just ask me.
I received my kukri two weeks ago and its has every thing that I wanted. It has good balance and excelant chopping capable. It will make a excellent fighting kukri and its intimidating as hell (all go and no show).
This kukri will be the one that goes with me everware. I will be making a new case
but the one that comes with it will work fine.
Look closely at the pictures that Yangdu has on this knife If you like what you see contact yangdu you might just be lucky and become the proud owner of a true villager made by one of the last royal kamies.

AJ,
Wow, What a great story and history on the reason for the existence of this new model. I feel very fortunate to receive the third of this model sold by Yangdu. You can believe that this one will see use on my camping trips, it will definitely not be a "safe queen".

Thanks for adding a new, very useful, model to the HI Khukuri line. Even if it is very limited in production.

Bruce
