we used minnows---jigs are good but too much work for my old shoulders. in my 40s & early 50s i could do better with jigs at times but it's more fatiguing. these are all white crappies , most of the fabulous blacks i prefer are located east in arkansas & south eastern states. blackks are easily caught on small spinners & fight harder than whites.---dennis
