Who makes a good Sunfish? I've seen Case, Bulldog, and Schatt & Morgan. What else is out there? I'd like to find one in the 3.75-4" range with carbon steel blades and natural handle materials. Spearpoint blades would be a plus.

Thanks,
Chris

The only modern ones I know of with carbon steel blades are the Case-Classics (Made by Queen). I kept a complete set (minus one or two I have given away to friends) from my selling days and love 'em along with a 55 Wharncliff whittler set that I hung on to.

Not sure about the Bulldogs (carbon or stainless) but the new Case and Schatt & Morgans are stainless if I am not mistaken.

Winchester would also be another brand that I would look at as far as modern sunfish, but they might be stainless too. I am not sure, but I do know they are of excellent quality. Smith and Wesson made a couple a few years back (betting those were by Queen also.)

My idea of excellent quality in a factory slipjoint is solid walk and talk with all blades. No gaps. Even liners and springs and smooth transition between bolsters and handle material. Blades do not rub against liners or each other. Even grinds and sharp tang shoulders.
That is a lot of detail for a factory to pay attention to :).
