Just finished this one up, thin hollow ground blade with lots of belly, should make an excellent skinner, and slicer.
Steel= O1 Tool Steel 5/32nd thick
Grind- Hollow Ground, polished with a 600 grit belt on the grinder. Flats are natural with a light hand sanding using 400 grit.
Blade is 3 3/4 inches to plunge cuts, actual cutting edge 4 1/4 inches, width is 1 3/4 inches at its widest point.
AOL is 8 1/4 inches
Heat treat- Heated to slightly above non-magnetic and held for 15 minutes before an immediate quenching in cooking oil.
Tempered for 2 two hour cycles at 375 degrees
Handles are Cocobolo wood with 3/16th brass pins
Sheath when completed will be a dual carry, vertical or horizontal

I love a knife with a blade that big and wide. I really enjoy the beefy feel of a blade like that. It looks like it would do a great job around the campsite and at the grille side with food prep and also with skinning.

Nice work.

What size wheel do you use for a grind that high? I have tried to do that with my 8" wheel, but it starts to dish out or cup.
