Not sure where to ask, but I'm reaching out to my fellow knifenuts that might also have an interest in eyewear.

I'm looking for sunglasses like this:

They kinda look like my Randolph Engineering Aviators, but with a narrower, more rectangular lens.

Look at Oakleys and Maui Jms, they seem to be the more popular brands mentioned here. Personally, I only use Oakleys and have for the last 20+ years. Pretty good shades and offer decent eyeball potection.

Check. Thanks for the suggestions Rev, I've also got a pair of Maui Jims that I've had for about 14 years but have since stopped wearing them. I really liked their fit and am a big fan of their polarized lenses, but found that they scratched easy. The pair above do look like the MJ Black Rock, I'll start there. I tried Oakleys before, but they just don't fit my face properly, got high cheekbones and not much of a bridge.

I have had one pair of prescription Maui Jim's for a dozen years. Proper cleaning is the key to keeping scratches off the lens surface. A mixture of rubbing alcohol and water 80/20 with a cotton cloth wiper works best. NEVER a household window cleaner. I cringe when I see people wipe lenses on anything available.

Yup. I learned that mistake on my eye glasses :(

The scratches on the ones I've got aren't from wiping the lenses. My dad was an opthalmologist, and he always suggested to run warm water over the lenses and then wipe with a soft, non-synthetic cloth. My lenses have gotten pits and scratches from being dropped, or being hit. Just normal wear and tear. The temples though, like with my other shades, have had their finish slowly deteriorate. Probably from sweat and handling. I ordered the Oakley Crosshair and the Maui Jim Black Rock.

I prefer my Costas. Specifically the Fisch models, but I've got a pair of Ray Bans identical to those, except mine has polarized, almost blue tinted mirror lenses,
