Killer knife, Matt. Your skills are going through the roof. When will we see some Lamey Damascus?

Serious steel. That is my definitive big knife. Price?

Matt,

Geez, you really shouldn't be making knives if that's about as good as you can do...BUT, ship me the knife, and I MIGHT change my mind!

It's hard to be sarcastic in the face of beautiful steel!

All I can say is that Matt's skill level is improving at lightening speed.

What can I say? Great knife.

Are you going to incorporate anything from the feedback from the ROS forum in future bowies?

Thanks for all the kind words. I was thinking the bottom of the guard was a tad long, but no one else seems to think so.

On damascus, it will be a while. I am focusing on performance, fit and finish. After im comrfotable with these, i will venture to new things (read between the lines: /probably never/)

The price on a 9" version in your choice of steel (A2, D2, 0-1, 1084, 1095) is $350 with your choice of Kenny Rowe sheath (any that he makes, embelished how you want) OR $325 for kydex. The 7" version is a tad less, see my site for pricing.

The guard is precision fit, with no solder. This makes it much cleaner in appearance up close.

Other models will have a little more drop to the handle, the owner of this one wanted a little more straight handle.

As far as incorporating stuff from the ROS... i will incorporate anything that a customer wants that doesnt sacrifice performance or "line" of the knife.

Im doing one in 7" with curly maple and a forward curved guard.

Matt.

Absolutley georgeous!!! Congrats, Matt!!!

p.s. - nice 1911, too! What kind is it???

Thanks Squid, the gun is a Colt 1991 Combat Commander, with all work done by Larry Vickers...

A qoute from Ken Hackathorn:

"....Larry Vickers is the best pistolsmith to ever lay a file on a 1911..."

Matt:

I am quite familiar with Larry's work. (I am as big a gun nut as I am a knife nut).

If I weren't saving up my pennies for new 1911 (Springfield or Wilson, I haven't decided), I'd have to buy a Sunrise Fighter!

Then I can have a combo like yours!!!

I took about 1/8" off the bottom of the guard, put a "Moran" edge and did a few other mods as per client request....

Cant wait to finish the one im currently working on. Should be on the web site next week or so.

Mr. Lamey

I went by your web site and have to say, I'm pretty impressed by your work. If, as people here have indicated, your just getting started . . . then the knife biz better watch out!

Keep up the good work.

Blade thickness at the spine/riccaso is 3/16, there is a good bit of distil taper starting at the grind line. I prefer 3/16 in a fighter, 1/4" shifts the balance too much forard in my humble opinion.

Hope to be posting some more pics on my site next week.

Thanks to all,

Matt.

Mr. Lamey,

How do you heat treat your O-1 knives? As you know there is a controversy over the proper heat treatment of this steel. Some makers use a hard edge spring back approach. While other's, like Randall Knives thorough temper to 55 HRc.
