Alright guys here is the pre-order for the Super 8 and Fell Chef 2.0. I've condensed them into one thread for simplicity.
We've worked hard on these models and will be keeping them around long term.
But Hunter, why are you doing a pre-order for a model you will have in stock in the future? Well, there's a number of reasons. Doing a pre-order helps me decide how many I should make, helps me with tooling costs and quicker turn around times, and for the customer, you get the blade made exactly how you want it and at a big discount. Finally, even though I'm keeping them around, it might be several years before these patterns are run again, and with the way inflation is going, I'm sure they will be more expensive to make next time.
Meet the SUPER 8
Listen, I’ve never been a fan of mid sized blades. When it comes to my own use, most of the time I like to carry a monster chopper and pair it with an EDC sized blade.
But, I see how that’s not always practical, and having a knife with a big blade that’s still compact and easy to carry on your belt, and light enough to take on l long trips on foot has its advantages.
So what makes the Super 8 special? Well a lot. I designed this blade from the ground up to be a serious cutter while maintaining enough durability to be used hard and not fail. The blade design features thin .200in thick stock, a tall bevel with a nice belly, + a fuller and moderately skeletonized tang for balance and weight reduction. This knife is not a chopper. It could do some damage in a pinch and has enough pop to chop up small diameter wood, but it’s 100% made to cut and cut well while being durable enough for batoning and blasting through bones. The handle on the Super 8 might be my most comfortable yet. It’s XL sized and you can make powerful cuts without experiencing fatigue or discomfort. If you need to chop, the handle is long enough that you can take a three finger grip and swing it like a mini machete. Finally, its a very small feature, but perhaps my favorite, the belly of the blade is lower than the guard so you can rock and chop on a cutting board without the guard getting in the way and ruining your veggie cutting session.
Overall, I think this is a seriously awesome blade that you guys will love and I’m able to offer it for this launch at a great price point. Also, it looks incredible. Final note, the scales will have texture, its just not shown on the 3D render.
Which blade steel to pick?
Well that depends on your use, but Here's my take. For 80% of people, Z Tuff is the best choice. Its almost impervious to edge damage, tougher overall, easy to sharpen and strop, and its cheaper. However, if you plan of processing a bunch of wild game like boars elk etc...Z Wear is the way to go as the edge will do better against things like sand or silt in a hide etc.. Personally, I'd just stick with Z Tuff.
