Has anyone ever broken a backspring on a Spyderco lockback?

I would GUESS "no."

But just curious. And.... could it be replaced externally if it did?

Yes, it has happened, on the older Harpy which had a one piece backspacer and lock spring. On the newer ones, the spring carrier portion of the backspacer tends to snap off rather than the spring itself breaking. Have see an all stainless Delica and a Police like that.

Vivi has broken the back spring batoning a endura 4, he had a video of it happening but he deleted all his videos for some reason .

EDIT: It broke when he hit upwards onto the handle because it was stuck in the wood.

Consider it a hint. Batoning with folders = bad idea. Unless you like to break things, then it is only a bad idea if it isn't your folder.

Hi Lavan,

I think every single part of a knife can and has been broken. I will say that it is rare on our knives. Especially considering the millions of knives that we have in the field.
