What is everyone's opinion on the Caly 3 in Hitachi Super Blue? Are any available or is it a pipe dream to think I can acquire one?

It's a sprint run, but if you watch the exchange you'll likely find one if you wait long enough...not sure what the aftermarket prices would be at this point though.

I want one! I have a Caly 3.5 and super blue stretch, endura, and delica. I REALLY want to find the SB Caly 3. I have missed a few, but one day!

I love mine, especially after I thinned it out.

Spendy yes, but they are difficult to find new at a good price these days. During the last week I thought about a backup, but in the end I went with a Stretch in the laminated superblue for half the price.

Looks like damn near a zero grind. Does it slice well?:D

They have made it before. I missed out on the 3 but have a sb 3.5

I too have the 3.5 and missed the 3 in SB. I really like that pattern/platform, it's a great balance between size and cutting power. If all else fails the Caly 3 or 3.5 in ZDP is nothing to scoff at if you like that model.

I have the Caly 3 in Super Blue, and love the steel's performance. I re ground the bevel to 15gps using the sharpmaker very easily with my poor sharpening skills. It holds a very keen edge for quit a while for what I use a knife of this size for. As everyone else says, this steel is very "slicey". And as far as re sharpening, it takes no time at all to get a razor sharp edge back.

I just picked up a 3.5 on the exchange. It was described as a user (to me usually not a good thing, desirable) but, man, such an awesome blade. The dirt, grime and discoloration of the handle scales perfectly complements the patina on the SB. Not to mention the steel takes a super keen edge. Mine was decent when I received it but after a mild strop, this thing is a laser. So satisfied with my find.

Nice thread bump. This blade is already a living legend amongst Spydercos.

Mine is a true companion.

Wish I could find a 3.5 SB, even though I do prefer Caly 3, but want the 3.5 just for variety sake.

I used to prefer the Caly 3. Something about the proportions of the 3.5 just struck me as odd...too spindly maybe. Not anymore; I've 'seen the light'. I still would prefer the 3" blade length because that's just what I find to be the best compromise. But, I have to say, my 3.5 isn't going anywhere but everywhere with me. :D

Yeah, I like how they both look actually... and even moreso, I like how they FEEL.
Have a Caly 3 SE as well.
Just so hard to find any SB variants now though. Too bad.
