I just received my new Endura in Super Blue. This is my first Endura, and daddy likes. Fit and finish is not perfect but good, and this blade is one of the sharpest I have ever received out of box.

I got that BEAD1LY for my Endura, but the lanyard hole is too small, so I'll probably just end up not using one, though I may make my own with some leather cord. The lanyard will probably be put on the Ti Millie that I intend to buy once it becomes available again.

The ergonomics on this knife are very interesting. I can see where Spyderco was going with this, and I like. The blade opens nice and smooth, though it is not slick. The lock is not beastly or heavy duty, but to me it looks trustworthy and reliable enoughfor anything a knife should be used for. I thought that I would hate the David Boye dent, but as applied by Spyderco, I actually kind of like it, from an ergonomic perspective. Clip works well with all kinds of pockets.

The finish on the blade is a very attractive satin finish, which is beautiful with that lamination line.

Rather than keeping it oiled, I think I'd rather save myself the annoyance and develop a patina on it. Great job, Spyderco! It's very clear to me why the Endura is such a popular, and, well, enduring design. This is going to get a lot of pocket time.

After a month and a half this is how mine looks. It gets lighter and darker, cutting cardboard seems to "wipe" the patina off to some extent. I really love this version.

That looks really good, wire edge! Is that just a natural patina developed through use?

You might be able to pull it through by threading a loop of small string through the hole and in the middle of that loop.

Congrats on the Endura, I was carrying mine yesterday.

Don't use cheap mustard to patina it, I stained some of my handle yellow from that.

Here is mine after a few sessions of forcing a patina. What I've found is that on one side the 420 wants to stain and on the other side the 420 and the super blue want to resist staining. I think it's from running the grinder in opposite directions.

I used some flitz to clean up the 420 on mine. I think near the stamp, the darkness is just bad lighting.

Yes, just a natural patina from use. I don't oil mine, just keep it clean and dry. I use WD-40 and paper towel to remove tape/glue residue, and Dawn and hot water for food debris. I'm careful to only wash the blade, and not get the hidden tang portion wet. I use Hoppe's FP10 lube sparingly and work the action a few times to spred it, it'll coat the internals so that water shouldn't affect it. The 420 SS cladding will really help against rust too.

I love my Endura, seems like just a great knife overall. Mine has VG-10 though so i do not have to worry that much about rust, but of course will have still take care of the knife.

You're very welcome, Mr. Glesser. Here's another, my first time forcing a patina. It's coming along very well, as evident on the spine.

The super blue endura and delica are two knives I'll never let go of...I'll post up some pics tomorrow. :)

The patina on my Endura went really well. This is my first attempt at a patina, and I'm very happy with the results, though there appears to be some orange where the text is stamped into the blade.
