Super Blue Stretches are in

Howe's who almost always shows new knives first says they will be in stock 3-12. Don't see them anywhere else.

I thought this was just a troll thread, as it says Super Blue Streches are in, title. So Super Blue Stretches are in his title, which is true, but trolling.

Just got an e-mail stating Howes will have some collector Super Blue Stretches available 3/12, so not too much longer.

I don't think he is trying to troll, I think he didn't see the date and just read the title from the Howe's email.

Is the SB laminated between the 420j or is it all Super Blue? I wish some other steel was used because of the scratch factor.

I'm pretty sure that it's laminated, I believe so far only the Caly 3 and 3.5 have been totally Super Blue.

That's what most are saying, but I've seen pics with no lamination line and only "superblue" on the blade. Are we sure about this?

You're right, I just checked and some of the major online retailers have the blade material listed as just Super Blue, while few others have it listed as Super Blue/420j. In all the pictures it is only stamped as Super Blue. I for one will be extremely excited if it is not laminated with such a soft steel.

My gut tells me those are just pics and the real deal will be laminated like the rest of the frn's, but I hope I'm wrong! We definitely need some clarity on this. It might make the difference in whether I get one or not. Meh, who am I kidding, I'll probably get one either way. :D

I just found a post with someone quoting Sal as saying that all in-the-works SB knives, including the stretch, would be with the same laminate. Oh well.

Now that's really strange. Both KW & KC in their website description of the Stretch 90fpgye say nothing of a laminate. In fact KC shows a picture with the inscription on the blade showing "superblue" unlike the Endura or Delica's inscription of "superblue/420J1." Since KC states they are taking pre-orders, can you imagine pre-orders being filled with the 420J1 laminate while the buyers supposed a pure superblue blade? Ouch!

They are all laminated. I don't think it's a big deal. It's a work knife. I want one.

Can't say for sure, but all the other Super Blue models produced for Spyderco by G Sakai have been laminated, so the odds are this one will be laminated as well. As for the pictures, I suspect the ones being used may be coming from Moteng, a Spyderco distributor who has put together some very imaginative "photoshop" illustrations in the past.

Thank you for the information Deacon. I noticed that the Caly3 Sprint was made in a different location in Japan from, e.g. Seki-city for the Endura/Delica.

These are definitely shipping, as at least one non-BF dealer I know of is receiving them on Monday. $112.95 w/ free shipping, which seems to be right in the ballpark of the street price will be seeing.

Sweet! I've been waiting for this one. Pre-ordered months ago. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will not be laminated.
