Been reading many of the old threads for ideas on best all around khukuri and seems it seems very close between the M43 and the Super CAK,with a few members saying the Super CAK is the ultimate khukuri hands down. Both are beautiful blades from what I have seen in pictures and posts.

Question is : I havent seen the Super CAK in the price index page,is it a special made Knife or no longer made anymore?

The SCAK was like a shooting star khukuri. It was made as a prototype for the Bonecutter by one of the most talented kamis around. I myself have wondered about duplicating its dimensions, but Sgt. Khadka seemd like he REALLY understood where the balance was between building a tough but user friendly khuk.

Technically it can be produced again as a custom order, but since all HI khuks are handmade by different kamis, an exact duplicate isn't guaranteed.

I honestly think that if you tell Auntie Yangdu exactly what you want, you won't be disappointed with what you get back.

Oh yeah, and welcome!!

I think there have been a few SCAKs in the recent past DOTDs though...

I would maybe send Yandgu an email and ask her about them and see if more are on the way.
I think that Sgt K has been a bit more active lately but maybe not...
the only way to know for sure is to ask her.

Yeah, I've noticed the term Super CAK being used, but really, I think Wolf might as well have that name trademarked. There really is nothing quite like his 20" CAK, whereas the CAKs being called SCAKs lately haven't looked all that, well, "super."

Scubie67,

Welcome to the H.I family!

Regarding the Super CAK, Wolf_1989 should be able to answer you quick.

His 20" model had me salivate!

I acquired the original Super CAK from Bladite. It was an early prototype for the H.I. bonecutter...but it was not a bonecutter. It's really more of a hybridized Chiruwa Dui Chirra than an Ang Khola variant.

The original owner called it a Super CAK and the name has stuck. I'd still propose calling it the WW3 Model.

I've seen khukris since that were called Super CAK's but... no... they're not. The closest I've seen to it belongs to another forumite here and he refers to it as Chiruwa Dui Chirra, but it has a narrower blade. It's made by Sgt Khadka though.

What is a Super CAK? As I see it, it's not an Ang Khola but:

- a Chiruwa Dui Chirra with -

* wider blade like an ang khola or M43

* slightly domed pommel cap, similar to that of a chitlangi

* balance & feel somewhere between a Sirupati and an M43 - quick and aggressive!

* steel mountings without habaki bolster

* very light weight; it feels more like a smallish sword

Does anyone have an idea what it would cost to have such a kukri special made? This is not a serious inquire, so I do not want to waist Auntie Yangdu time. I am just wondering if anyone who has had a custom kukri made would be able to tell me the cost. And can you request it be made by a certain kami?

Also I guess The difference between the M43 and the SCAK is your trading off a bit of the chopping power of the M43 for more speed than the SCAK and vice versa for the SCAK?

After testing the SCAK against a traditional M43 and one of the newer and heavier ones, the chopping ability is about the same. If it was a little more 'snappy' it would feel like a big M43 in the hand. It does come close though. The original owner was absolutely right - it's like a small sword.

Maybe... the M43 is a tool that performs equally well as a weapon, and the SCAK is a weapon that performs equally well as a tool? I can't hold the SCAK in my hand without having the impression it was intended to be a weapon.

the one and only. i'm glad it found the right owner :) after i pulled it from the Stone, i figured i didn't want to be King, and went on a quest, and the owner found it... something like that ;)

it's a very interesting blade to be sure. hopefully the good Sgt will make more of them, and more importantly, more Bone Cutters :>

full tang only please...
