Super cheap stone: What is this?

EDIT: Changed image hosts, so there are no nasty popups...

I found this stone at a flea market kind of place with lots of cheap stuff. It's 8" x 2" x 1", and is darkish blue on the outside. I noticed some that had chips missing and they were gray to dirty white where the chips are, so the blue is only "skin deep". It also left blue dust on my fingers when I tested the stone with my fingernail. I'd estimate it's around 150 grit or so. I think it's probably a coarse aluminum oxide stone, but I don't have enough experience to be sure. It feels around the same roughness as my medium silicon carbide stone.

It says something like DianHao Whetstone Germany on the label. If you look at the picture, the first character seems to be a stylized "d", but I'm not sure. Google searches turn up nothing for this.

Oh I forgot: The price! $0.99 plus tax. I should have just bought one, but I'd rather not throw a dollar bill out the window if this is complete junk.

I also suspect this stone is made in China due to the name, but who knows.

Should I be concerned about the blue coating wearing or chipping off? Is it just cosmetic, or does it somehow have different abrasive properties than the rest of the stone? Is it likely to be complete junk and dish or wear funny or simply be uneven in texture? In short, waste of money, or bargain of the century? :)

Most likely made from bonded silicone carbide. I have two similar stones and they work great for reprofiling edges. Cheap stones work fine, just make sure they don't mix in cardboard into the stone (as a filler). A Norton Crystolon will most likely sharpen faster, but not 20 times faster...

Oh yeah, thanks for all the porn popups when I clicked on your attached pictures

Thanks for your insight and...

Ooops. I guess I should find a more "family friendly" image host. I have javascript disabled via the "no script" plugin for firefox so I don't really get many popups any more. I hope it was just an annoyance and not an actual embarrassment. Sorry about that.

Yah man I alt+f4'd when I clicked the link.
Scared one of em would trigger a virus :P.
Just use imageshack.

Sorry for the image host problems. I've changed the links now to imageshack which appear inline so there are no popups of any kind AFAIK. I hope this works out better for everyone.
