Super CQC-7, PE or CE?

My wife is buying me a Waved Super CQC 7, but I'm not sure if I should get a plain or combo edge. Right now I'm leaning towards a combo edge because this won't be a working knife, it'll just sit in my pocket waiting for a real bad day, unless I need it to open a bag of chips or something. Resharpening won't be an issue. I train people in CPR and first aid, and am the first responder at work so I always have that in mind and I like the serrations for their ability to cut through, well, anything from rope to seat belts to clothing, etc. (although that could be a misconception of mine, maybe a plain edge is ideal?).

I know that most people on this forum are very against serrations....Is there any reason other than resharpening?

For a purely emergency knife are serrations good or bad, in your opinion?

Thanks guys....

get the PE, serrations are only good if ya cut a lot of rope or boxes imho, they just dont offer any real advantage over a PE.

also the resale value is better and imho the knife looks better PE.

There is a magazine called "Tactical" that I just looked at in a local Walmart. Ernie Emerson does a review on tactical folders and he highly recommends a combo (part serrated) blade. He says something about serrations take longer to dull and that they tear thru material well even when they go dull.
Something to consider when purchasing an Emerson folder.

That has been my experience, and the main thing that keeps me buying partially serrated knives. I only have to resharpen mine once a year, if that, due to how little I use them anyway.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I have had one knife with a combo edge, and that was the old spyderco hunting knife or as some called it the 60/40 knife. I hought it would be a good knife to carry daily, however the one time I was doing something with it I accidentally closed it the wrong way, and the serrations made a terrible cut on a finger. I feel like the plain edge will do anything it s called upon to do in any situation, as we cant predict whatr a bad situation reall is.
