Just a quick question about a great knife, is the number right below the thumbstud the steel used for the blade, or is it a serial number?

Thanks

It's the serial number. All production Emerson knives use 154 CM steel for blades.

The number at the bottom of the logo, split by the vertical line is the year of manufacture.

Enjoy your knife.

Thanks alot, I was hoping that was the case, but as mine reads 1086 (also a grade of steel) I was a bit confused. On the topic, does anyone know how long production models of the super 7 have been made? Mine was made in 05, but for a production knife 1086 seems rather low unless this is the first year or two.
