I'm trying to decide between the two for my next purchase. What are the differences? They look very similar to me. Any feedback, positive or negative would be appreciate. Fwiw I'm looking at standard size, plain edge, and satin finish. Thanks!

I had a mini-8 (Horseman) and it's one of only two EKI's I sold - didn't care for it. Found it difficult to wave as compared to others. LOVE my Journeyman.

You may notice the 8's blade has a slightly curved, "banana shape" to it because it was designed as a close quarter combat knife. The Journeyman, however, has a straighter edge because it was designed as a utility knife. Both look cool and are great knives but each is designed for a different purpose.

Between the two, if you are wanting an SD knife then you may want to select the cqc-8. If you are looking for an edc blade then I would suggest the Journeyman. Both will serve you well -- it just depends on how you want to use the knife.

It will be more utility. Probably pick up a journeyman. Thanks for the feedback.

+1 on the Journeyman. I also horseman and planning on getting a Journeyman. I don't like huge belly's on my blade.

Well, I leaned towards the 8. Anyone have a super 8 that can lend some advice on the size? I wear XXL gloves and it will be used primarily on duty so weight isn't an issue. Just want to make sure it won't be too big. Thanks in advance!

I owned both the 8 and super 8 honestly go for the reg 8. I also have big mitts; I wear XXL Hatch gloves. But because it is so long with the deep choil I found it pretty unwieldy although very impressive. Also it is hefty even while wearing jeans, but if you can get one for a decent price do it. I wouldn't pay full price for a super 8 however I would pay for a new cqc-8.
