The shield came off my RR Improved Muskrat today. Fortunately, I found it in the bottom of my pocket.

What should I use to stick it back on?

I would use epoxy. It is easier to clean up the mess. While it's still wet use denatured alcohol and it cleans up pretty good.

Personally, I prefer epoxy. You have a bit more time to adjust the shield if you don't get it in exactly the place you want it before it sets.

I have also learned to wear latex gloves when working with super glue. When I glue my hand to the table, I can just slip it out of the glove. :D

A GEL type superglue works well, and is as easy as a repair can get. It takes all of a couple minutes to do the 'work' of dropping a drop or two into the handle recess & placing the shield, then allowing a little more time for it to cure completely. I used it to replace a fallen-out shield in one of my Case knives, and it's been bulletproof since.

I recommend the gel-type superglue, because it's less prone running/messes and also won't immediately disappear into the grain of natural handle materials like wood or stag (my repaired knife was in stag).

Well, here is what I did. My old super glue dispenser was dried out, as was as my only open JB Weld. Not wanting to open a fresh package for such a small job, I checked my Gorilla Glue, and found it still serviceable, so that's what I used.

I had shied away from Gorilla Glue because of the way it tends to foam out of the joint as it sets up, but I took care to use only two small drops, and have not seen any foaming at all. If this forum has taught me anything, it is how to improvise and make do with what is at hand. Thanks for all the tips.
