Need help, and I'm hoping the fam can provide the info:

Are all the Gen III slabs interchangeable between Gen III knives? I need to know if I can take slabs from an ARK and put them on an ABA.

Thanks, people.

J

This might need to be asked of Amy. If anyone can find out - she can!:D

They may not be exact with a perfect fit.

If a bit large no problem to sand down, but if there a bit small in an area the steel would need to be ground down.

At least thats what I would think.

edit- I have a BAIII from the factory that has slabs a bit small in one area(can get a finger nail to hang on easy), my other three are perfect.
I'm pretty sure the BAIII has same slabs as the ARK, but that doesn't always mean there will be a dead perfect fit, even if put on one ARK to another. or one BAIII to another.

Someone will come along with a pic of both, pretty sure there the same though

Anyone here with an SRK or DARK and a BAIII? I would REALLY appreciate it if you could check for me. Thanks

Thanks for the help, Ken. I figured as much, but went ahead an pmed Amy and Garth anyway.

Before that, though, I went and searched for U_J's post with the DSJ and DARK, just to see how those matched up and the DARK grip seemed a bit shorter than the DSJ. Guess we'll hafta see.

I have a feeling, however, that the PD, ARK, Groovemaster, and Tanker A are about the same as the BAII, if not ALSO the SJ.

I have an ABA (no, don't even bother enquiring folks; she goes NOWHERE :D) and I just compared my slabs to the ARK you just bought. Visually, they appear identical in every way-- hole location, the ridges, the troughs, how many ridges and troughs, where they start and stop--everything. If they don't fit, I would be VERY surprised. Good luck!

In fact, check Here for a pic:

I think you may be able to swap between the same models but not necessarily between the same handle designs. At one point in time, I had a Groove Master with snakeskin slabs. They were NOT the exact same configuration as the ones on my Satin Jack.

My ABA, SHSJ's, BAIII's and my Groovemaster all spec out the same on dimensions and hole spacing.
