Super Karambit carry question

So i got a super karambit in the mail today, first of all this is the most intimidating blade I've ever gotten my hands on lol. I am too scared to even spin it with the hole, and i am comfortable with a balisong, i think it's the pointyness that is scary.

Anyways so my question is if i carry it in the waistband, will i potentially gut myself pulling it out if the wave engages :D? Do any of you karambit owners carry in the waist band, and how does that work out for you?

Another side question is what is the blade length? Several sites list it at 3.5, others at 3 inches, i think even emerson's site says 3, i measured it myself from different spots and i'm getting 3. Any input?

I wouldn't carry it IWB. I even find it a bit tricky to wave. From right-side front carry, I've been able to draw it with my pinky and spin it into regular grip, or back pocket with index finger into reverse grip without the spin (my preferred way).

I carry in my left rear pocket due to handgun on right hip. Carried in left front until it opened just enough for my thumb to go between the blade and handle (Self correcting problem). Use low stick painters tape on the blade edge to practice the draw untill you are comfortable with it. No better knife IMO.

I wouldn't carry it lol. Id just have a hard time explaining it to the cops "its for…opening my bagels?" idk what id say but i don't think id work out well here in NY. All the same you J-cut someone with that their guts are gonna spill right out of them all over the freakin streets. Their be dead, and your be home, with your feet up eat'n chips.

I wouldn't use it on someone, unless i was surrounded, but where there is a will there is a way to escape, running would be my first thing i would do or walk faster if i sense trouble. I'd be to shaky to use a knife on someone anyways, my heart would be racing, and i wouldn't want to try and use a knife in that state of mind and body. I only really see this as a cool badass looking, fun knife to me, so since i don't intend on using it and it's a little big too i'm getting rid of it. The couple times i carried it i preferred it in front right pocket, the wave was hard to engage in the waist band. I have no desire too to see someone's guts spilled, lol the way you put it is hilarious though, ahaha you'd have to be one sick puppy to spill someone's gut literally and then go home watch tv all comfortable and be eating chips, yeah i think i'd traumatize myself gutting someone.

I Ike the combat karambit size. Waist band is too hard to use the wave with. I want a super but wouldn't carry it so I got the combat

Depends on the situation you are in. I had a guy want to beat me with a tire iron about 6 months ago. It was in a Auto Zone parking lot and I kept backing up and talking. All the while I had a knife in the front pocket and a Glock inside the waistband. I did not want to punch him and get into a scuffle because I know he could have gotten a hold of my gun in a street fight (should my one two punches didn't knock him out). If he swung and hit me with that tire iron it would have been the end of his life and I did not want that. He followed me around the parking lot and I ketp backing up fast (sometimes running backwards as he advanced quickly to strike-I didn't want to turn my back on him because he looked faster than me and could have hit me from behind) not allowing him to come within swinging distance. This went on for about a minute. I know I shouldn't have waited for him to swing, but luckily I was able to diffuse him long enough (and look like a chicken $hit in the process) and I jumped into my car an drive off.

If I had pulled the gun out I would have used it immedatly and would not have waited for him to react while he was advancing on me with a long tire iron. I don't believe in pulling guns just to show people.

Sad thing that day he never knew his life almost ended. And I am glad I did not have to take it. I called the cops and they said I had every right to shoot (or stab) in that situation and they certainly would have if they were me. I guess I took a risk by not taking his life. But I was counting on the good Lord to protect me and him.

but there was a time I did pull a gun and did not use it. again different scenario.

I was in my car outside a baseball game in Atlanta GA that had not started yet. I was trying to sell tickets outside I did not need. Some guys saw I had tickets and I pulled into a parking lot where they were. I was in my car and all of a sudden about 20 black men surrounded my car. It happened really fast and I don't know where they came from. They were all screaming and yelling. One guy was talking to me while others on the opposite side of my car were reaching though the passenger window trying to grab stuff. A couple younger kids were blocking my car from the front and back so I did not want to run them over. All of a sudden I see one guy with a long 2x4 tried to stuff that into my face from 4 feet away . It went into my car window and missed me by inches. I had my hand on my gun under my right thigh the whole time. I pulled it immdeiatly and some backed off far away enough for me to gas it and get away.

That was the scariest situation for me because I was surrounded and if I was struck in the face would have gassed the car while opening fire in all directions probably hitting several of them. I think in certain (ugly) situations like this it is better to get struck just to justify under law showing you were defending your life (at least that is the way I think to justify it in my own mind-and I know you probably think that is not smart). I didn't want to run over small kids and shoot a bunch of guys with no damage/injuries on me.

Sometimes you just gotta do what you have to to save your own life. Every situation is different.

Crazy stuff, there are always many variables and unexpected things that happen, it's hard to have the answers to all the things that can happen, i think it all just comes down to split second reactions in moments in time and if you freeze or react, fortunately you seemed to be ready as you could be. I wouldn't want to end up in any similar scenario, who does, but sometimes trouble finds us by chance even if we don't ask for it, just sometimes.
