I finally have enough money. Which one would you choose and why? It will be used for everything from edc to camping and backpacking.

Thanks,
Andrew

You can't go wrong with either, but...

Para 2

-lighter
-smaller in pocket
-blade shape
-less wasted edge
-I really like Spyderco's S30V

i would go with the para
i was kinda disapointed with the superleaf
nothing wrong with the knife tho its a great knife

I'm the opposite of the first two replies. I'd take the Superleaf over the Para 2. The steels are obviously different with a possible slight edge to the Para 2 but the Superleaf design is a better knife for me hands down.

The bushing system pivot makes it a deal breaker for the para 2 for me. The superleaf without the bushing system is plenty smooth for me. A bushing system just for additional smoothness but with a tendency towards some blade play that can't be adjusted out is fro me a step backward.

So I'd pick the superleaf.

Well ofcourse the only logical answer is get both! :D

Seriously, buy it from someone who allows returns, you try both out and send the lesser back. It'll cost you return shipping only, so do it to it buddy.

I recently received a sage 3 and para 2, like the para 2 way more and sold the sage at a loss, regret not buying both from the same seller.

i do not have a Paramilitary 2.

that being said i got a Superleaf a couple weeks ago, i was having a hard time choosing between the Military and the Superleaf and some members here gave me some great reviews of the Superleaf and i went with it. great knife i really love it.

The superleaf is definitely much stronger than para 2. The handle is also very secure and comfortable, making it a good camping folder. However for edc, para 2 would be better because of it's slimmer profile and lighter weight. If u're leaning towards outdoor activities, then choose superleaf!

I recently picked up the superleaf. I love generous finger choils & together with the handle shape it fits my hand like a glove. Also I grip my knives in reverse grip when stripping wire and it feels very good in all positions.I also love the wire clip as it makes the leaf sit very low in the pocket and it seems easier on the pocket as far as abration. Good luck & enjoy, Andy.

I have both. IMO, the first major break point in the decision-making process would be size. The SuperLeaf handle is fabulous to use, but it definitely takes more space in a pocket or wherever else you're stowing it.

The para bushing system does have some (minimal) adjustment for blade play..
The para would make quicker work of most tasks.
The superleaf is whats left of the soul, of the lil temperance..
And look at the price..
Barely over a hundred bucks for a Golden Colorado USA made knife..

Interesting point, Trimcut. I never viewed it that way. Certainly similar on some levels, but the two are different in some key areas.

What features to you see as similar?

Thats just how I see the evolution of spyderco knives.
Let me think this one out. I could write a book about it. A really bad book ..

i like the para 2 more. the compression lock release tab on the Superleaf feels too cramped for my fingers when i'm pressing it

I routinely gouge and pry with my knives - so most Spyderco's aren't for my use/abuse. The ATR has held up really well for me.Anybody got a straight down from the top shot of the Superleaf tip ?

What is the difference in the bushings?
