A few months back I picked up a standard size desert roadhouse and loved it. It did get me thinking about the super size though. I'm going to pick up a super roadie stonewashed, but am stuck deciding between plain edge or serrations? It will be used as a support side carry on duty and an edc when I can't carry my gun off duty. Also, what are everyone's thoughts on standoffs vs the backspacer? Appreciate the feedback as always!

Serrated. Most people would probably say a plain edge but especially for that big of a knife the serrations won't get in the way. And there's a lot of stuff you can cut with serrations that wouldn't be nearly as easy without them. However that's just my personal opinion. As far as standoffs vs backspacer, I like them both but the only difference is the standoff models are easier to take apart :)

I'd say plain and here's why, I find that whe I'm trying to saw through something I end up wanting to use the front portion of the blade and the solution is to sharpen it, and the go back over the part you want "serrated" with a 100 grit stone to give it a nice toothy edge. This is just a way I like to do it. Also I like the back spacers better but I'm not too picky.

I say if you want to keep it, go with serrations. If you think you might sell it down the road, then go plain edge because it will be easier to sell. I ony have experience with back spacer so I can't help in that regard

Plain edge; stand-offs. That's how my 13 is, and I love the simplicity of it.

Plain edge w/standoffs. I have gone to just about all standoffs and serrated blades are great at work for me but I would rather have PE any day.

Plain edge all the way on a Roadie. I like serrations on Commanders and 15's, and my TrustyTen has 'em too (could go either way on that one).

This makes sense,^ for a good looking blade.
But, serrations are badazz and do serve a purpose.
