Ok guys, normally I take my time and carefully rationalize any knife purchases I make, but I got an unexpected bonus, and after putting the vast majority toward responsible uses, I ended up with a little less than $200 left. What's the frickin sweetest knife you'd buy? Right now I'm torn between the ZT 801 and the ZT 770CF, but I'd love to hear your recommendations too.

Zt 0801 for sure. By far my favorite production folder. Crazy smooth and absolutely love the edge I can get on that. You won't regret it!

Between those 2, go for the 0801! Hands down one of the best production flippers out there. The 0770CF is a great looking knife as well, but the 0801 wins in function and looks as far as I'm concerned. Plus, you can always pimp her out afterwards. Acid etching the blade, anodizing the handle -- there are some really great looking pieces out there.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of other recommendations of other brands, but the 0801 is my most carried knife at the moment so I'm a little biased.

801 is on my (very) short list. I recently got myself the 770CF, and it's absolutely brilliant. Beautiful, full CF scales, useful and attractive blade shape. Extremely light and rock solid. You can't go wrong either way!

the 0801 is a sweet effin knife. I love mine.

Exactly. Just depends on how big and heavy a knife you like to carry. Here are the specs of both knives:

ZT 0801:

• Made in the USA
• Manual open, KVT ball-bearing system
• Frame lock
• Reversible (left/right), deep-carry clip
• Steel: ELMAX®, stonewashed finish
• Handle: Titanium
• Blade Length: 3.5 in. (8.9 cm)
• Closed Length: 4.7 in. (11.9 cm)
• Overall Length: 8.2 in. (20.8 cm)
• Weight: 5.8 oz. (164.4 g)

ZT 0770CF:

• Made in the USA
• Assisted opening
• Inset liner lock
• Reversible deep-carry clip (left/right)
• Steel: ELMAX®, stonewashed finish
• Handle: Carbon fiber
• Blade Length: 3.25 in. (8.3 cm)
• Closed Length: 4.3 in. (10.9 in.)
• Overall Length: 7.5 in. (19.2 cm)
• Weight: 3 oz. (85 g)

I only carry lightweight folders, so the 0770CF would be my choice.

I'd buy neither. I'd get what I plan on my next purchase to be. A Lionsteel SR2.

An 801 just came in the mail today. Can't believe it took me this long to get one. Between the 2 you mention, 801 all the way!

801 for sure. I have my buddy's 801 for a little while, and I love it. Definitely picking one up sometime soon.

Another 0801 vote. Or if you're open to other suggestions, the spyderco szabo is frickin' sweet, just not very practical

Sweet! What are your initial impressions?

The flipping action is super smooth, maybe the smoothest and quickest I have. Faster than either of my 0560's. Detent is perfect for me, I can't shake it out (I like em strong). I could use a little more blade length but this will work. It is just so sleek and sexy! I think this is a must own for any ZT fan. Next week I'm going to look into getting some custom work done on it, probably going to contact Maprik.

Dammit, not another one. That integral handle is stunning. Anyone have any input on the size? I have med-large hands, and I like to get a full, comfortable grasp on a handle. I'm fine on knives like the small sebbie, where there's a shelf of sorts for my slightly dangling pinkie.

I have the 0801 and 0770 (aluminum) and am thrilled with both, but I have to mirror the sentiments of many others here and give the 0801 the nod. I find the flipper size/shape of the 0770 to be a little awkward for me to get a consistent flipping motion, which is unfortunate because it's otherwise perfect for my EDC purposes. The 0801 has a smoother opening motion, and the titanium handle was a major selling point for me.

I love the 0801, but the 0770 hasn't left my pocket since I got it. I like how light it is. If it had the KVT pivot it would be perfect.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1403576432.105959.jpg
The 0801 feels like a tank in comparison. They are very different so I guess it depends on what you want for your collection.

If the 0770 isn't too small for you, I doubt the SR2 would be. If it is, the SR1 is just a few dollars more.

Ok, i think I'm going to bow to popular opinion and pick up the 801, especially since I found one for an excellent price. Thanks everyone, I'll be sure to post my impressions of it when it comes in
