This happened a few weeks back but not had time to post...

The knife in question was a new s35vn talwar xl and it had been used a bit but after a few wrist flicks the lock stuck so bad I had to use a block of wood to hit the tri ad lock to open it.bit was so tight I didn't think it would ever close again!

The good news is I opened and closed it many times before trying another wrist flick, this stuck but I could just close by hand with all the force I could muster... fast forward and opening and closing maybe 70-100 times its now so smooth and won't stick no matter how hard you flick it open...

I didn't take it apart to adjust anything. All I did from new was to add a drop of nano oil. since the stick went I added a solid set of phosphor bronze washers to replace the half and half set it had originally.

I may have been lucky but just persevere and make your thumb sore....

I have seen a few reports of lock stick on the new Talwar so I thought this experience was worth sharing....

There are other reports here of the new talwar being hard to disengage the lock. On most triads that are a little sticky when new, I say just cycle a bunch and it evens out.

But there seems to be an issue with these. You shouldn’t have to take it apart and polish up contacting surfaces. I’d send it back.

I didn't have to take it apart for it to sort itself out. I only took it apart after it was 100% as it should be and then I added a new set of washers replacing the 2 Teflon and 2 bronze. I can't remember the size but it's the same as the two original ones. it's now 150% and as easy to disengage as any other cs.

Serious lock stick is nothing new for Cold Steel , but more discouraging for what they charge for these new ones .

On my old problem ones of various models , I never had one that didn't just wear in , eventually, but trying to unlock them was a real PITA meanwhile .

But most of those I got off Ebay or Amazon , cheap , probably for this reason .

When I first got my AD-10 , I thought it was broken because it was way smoother ,both opening and closing , than any Tri-ad I had previously . :p

So , the Trick-ad lock can be very smooth from the factory . Just poor QC to not come finished , ready to use .

I don't recall my old AUS8 Voyagers ever having much problem , so it's just not necessary .

I think its just rough lock faces grabing together and as soon as they smooth out it's fine...

this was the worst by 100 miles, tbh I have only had a little bit on a few knives I must have 50+ tri ad locks...

the smoothest is the Italian 4max and 4max scout that also has much less force to unlock than any other... those are sebenza smooth!
